The reason I resent the effort to by the media and others to stifle the Ma. election |
|
This is part of a post that I put in someone else's op.. but it is a basic truth. I have worked the ground game locally.. volunteered and off year elections can be tougher for Democrats because we do not always get out in those mid-term elections because of work, kids, etc.
Locally, our Democratic base are working people, and working age people, who have a hard time trying to get into vote.. so the off years can seem in the pocket of the republicans, when it is just a matter of logistics and quite frankly.. positive feedback
Some of our people will let the vote slide, if they get the message it will not count anyway because of polls and media, and quite frankly some sad sacks who just are committed to having us lose.

1. Right..unless if they think it's |
|
close and then they might make the extra effort..
Like Obama says..this election counts as to whether we go forward or backward.

2. Don't get me wrong Cha.. I getting in that older demographic.. I have a son in college |
|
But the republicans who work the polls.. are all retired, not in the workplace,.. and the republican party is their job so to speak.
I pick up a working Mom and three kids and drive her to the polls and watch the kids in the hallway so she can go vote.. it is hard for some of our members. And the whole meme of your vote is not going to count because XYZ has it in the bag.. well just drives me crazy.

4. You mean like POLITICO whose poll just announce on MSNBC has Coakley |
|
down by 8 or something. I never trust that site. I think it's to discourage the Coakley voters.

For the media, it is the story that keeps the juice going and the oh noes and something to talk about 24/7
But reading all the hard work that Democrats are doing in Mass., they (the media) can choke on the crow they are going to have to eat.

8. I hope that well meaning people don't get infected by this crap |

I'm amazed at how many at DU can't see the forest for the trees.
We have an excellent chance for making change, possibly the only chance we will have for a long time if we don't unite as Democrats.

7. Would "they" be stifling the election if Coakley was ahead and they reported that? |
