19. He called Obama "the fifth Kennedy brother...." |
|
.... and was one of the few commentators to take on Howard Dean during that insanity last month. (Like Dean or not, Tweety was clearly taking up for the President.)
Tweety gets a bad rap.

Let me hear from the guests! Great range of guests. I'd love to hear them more.
Wish he'd let Tom Joyner take the lead.

14. Very sad Chatty Chris is hosting with his wanting to pretend. |
|
Wanting to pretend we've "grown beyond" racism or something. And loving far too much to hear himself speak, when
Professor Harris Lacewell is saying such wonderful things. She's been great and deep tonight. Talking about social inequities that affect many people, black brown and poor of all kinds. Stressing that it shouldn't be left at worrying about surface issues.
And just now, Go Professor Lacewell, saying we should perhaps better be asking what is going on in white peoples' minds.
And earlier bringing up the incarceration rates of young black americans, as the right wing or libertarian black guy on the panel was talking about it being easy to find a job if you know how to go about it.
Chris likes to hear himself speak too much. Would have preferred another host, like perhaps Alison Stewart, or Ed Schultz.

|
Apparently, she asked a bunch of young people why they voted for Obama on election night. She claims they all told her it was because he was black. Therefore, Obama's victory was racist.

25. Yes....someone should give her some kind of pill to pop to calm her down..... |
|
She was quite combative and arrogant. The Audience was looking at her like.... if we wanted to hear this kind of shit, we could have watch Fox news! Doh! Then she says...I'm not a pollster. So why bring up your little unscientific poll. She must have asked a group of 5 kids or something. I hate that shit. That's the kind of discussion coming from her that is there to divide and polarize.

27. Melissa Harris-Lacewell made it all worthwhile for me. |
|
Plus the interlude where they showed videos of the Hispanic law student, the guy who wrote "Whitopia", and the white woman from a racist family who deliberately moved into an African American dominated community was very moving.
Granted, it wasn't perfect, and Tweety preened and filibustered a bit too much, but it was a damn good show overall.

28. Tricia Rose (the Prof from Brown) is amazing |
|
and so is Melissa Harris-Lacewell. I thought it was kinda disappointing too. I thought it was too Tweety-centric and, frankly, Tom J toned down his rhetoric too much for my taste.
