6. If memory serves, his overnight calls before the NH primary picked up Hillary's surge |
|
I wonder if he's hearing something similar out of MA or if he's just winging it.

16. Makes me wonder too. Some of the recent polls out there have |
|
Edited on Tue Jan-19-10 10:06 AM by Jennicut
26% of Dems voting for Brown and Obama's approval as less then 45%. These might be the likely voter models the pollsters think will be correct, but are they really correct? The models were wrong for the NH primary. However, this is Zogby and overall his track record is not good.

20. The polls had Coakley winning by 10 in the primary and she won by 20 |
|
So there is a recent precedent for pollsters getting it wrong with her, which Zogby might be factoring into his prediction. Whterhe that's scientific or not...

37. That is true. He doesn't have a very good record on regular |

elections but he has nailed special elections and some primaries. I suspect he looks closely at the weaknesses in other polls and fine-tunes his own late poll with a better likely voter sample. What he has done that others haven't is account for the overwhelming female turnout advantage in special elections.

Probably just wants to be the guy who gets it right, because apparently, no matter how wrong you are as a pollster, you continue to get paid by someone who wants to push a narrative!
But, that being said, for once I'm hoping he gets a TON of acclaim tomorrow for being the one guy who said she'd pull it off!

Seriously. He can't look any more the clown than he already does. So being wrong won't hurt him. If he calls it right, though, he looks like a genius and is the darling of the village again.

Yes, I know, they are the ones who did that ridiculous New Hampshire poll with Obama up by 10, but there have been other times when Zogby was right and other pollsters were wrong. Like, they predicted Hillary winning PA by 10 when a lot of pollsters had it much closer.
Zogby sometimes does nightly tracking, and often theirs is the last poll conducted and thus the most reflective of the shifts. I don't know why, but I feel like there's a good chance she will win, and I feel like we could be seeing another New Hampshire. Zogby is often contrarian but not always wrong that way.

Posted on the Twitter thread too about this: Intrade is swinging a little. Probably nothing but last-minute buyers hoping for a lucky score, but still ... Martha's up 10, Brown's down 10. He's still way ahead, but the movement is at least nice.
