This is just for two years right? Hopefully Coakley will pull it out.

1. I for one believe that if brown wins
we should never ever let MA off the hook. We should write letters to the editors of newspapers, flood the online sites letting them know that they picked a piece of crap to further bush's tearing down of this country. I am going to make it my business to write a letter once a month. I can not understand how a state that loves democracy, was the leading salvo of the Rev War could ever think of voting for a piece of s**t like brown.

11. That is a pleasant thought. That Brown will get whooped in 2012.

2. Now THAT would be awesome. :)
Although even two years of Brown (or any Republican) in that seat=:puke: And I still reject that it will happen. I'm holding out hope 'til the end! :)

But failing that, is there any way a Senator could be recalled in MA? Because I think that if he pulls this off, at some point (sooner rather than later, I suspect), voters there will have major "buyer's remorse"....

3. Capuano would be my choice.
He's a natural campaigner--he'd beat Snotty Scotty at his own game.

9. Me too!
Capuano was my choice during the primaries. Like you, I think he's a natural campaigner and would be vigorously smacking Brown's fake tea-bagger assz right about now.

5. Because everyone loves acerbic gay Jewish liberals in Massachusetts?
I think Barney himself might laugh at this idea.

6. I don't know, wasn't the word that he was likely to take Kerry's seat..
Edited on Tue Jan-19-10 04:35 PM by ObamaKerryDem
..had Kerry become President in '04? Yeah of course that would've been an appointment, but it's likely or at least possible that he would've wanted to run for another term once Kerry's was up?

7. As much as I like him, can we have somebody who is younger?
Edited on Tue Jan-19-10 04:41 PM by Mass
He is going to be 70 in March.

Capuano is a name that comes to mind. There are others, like Jim McGovern.

8. Barney should be speaker, NOT a freshman senator. He's too old to be a freshman anything. nt

12. The term for senators is six years, not two.
Two years for House members.

14. The OP meant tonight's election is just about filling the seat for two years.
In November 2012, whoever wins tonight will have to run again in order to get a full six-year term.

15. But Brown or Coakley
Edited on Tue Jan-19-10 08:30 PM by bigwillq
will only fill the remainder of Kennedy's term, which I believe is up in 2012.

13. Why would Barney give up being in senior leadership in the House?
To be the most junior Senator. Especially at his age.

16. Barney Frank would be a great Senator but he's already in his 70's
Edited on Tue Jan-19-10 08:37 PM by Hippo_Tron
He holds a powerful chairmanship in the House and he would and to start over again in the Senate would make little sense at his age.

17. IF brown should
win on his best lying campaign then Mass has 2 years to catch on to him unless he votes exactly like the moderate that he said he was.
