I was living in Boston in 2004 when they won the World Series. His comments as he ran for Bush in the 2004 elections made me think he was actually part of the Evil Empire not the Red Sox team.
That said, I'm glad he was so instrumental, bloody sock and all, in winning the WS for Boston.

4. Well, such people never voted for Kennedy.... |
|
...they voted for a brand name - just as most would opt for Coke or Pepsi over some generic cola. Politics is on the same frivolous level to many people. They saw the glossy, shiny, cut-price Romney stylings of Brown and swooned all over him.

Did the people who voted for John Kennedy back in the '40s (or early '50s) instead of Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr, spit on Lodge Sr's grave?
Should John Kennedy have done what HCL/Jr would have done, since it was the "Lodges' seat" for so many years? Did voters diss the HCL/Sr by not voting for his scion?
Since when are Senate seats sinecures, to be passed in one's will like a feudal lordship?
Me thinks Sir Theodore would be most cross. While I have no doubt that he loved power and all its accoutrements, and probably viewed his seat territorially as a sinecure, nonetheless he was far too clever a politician to utter such an opinion in the presence of anybody who wasn't utterly paid for or of such small reputation as to be utterly ignored.
(Seriously, when did this become Feudal Underground? And, no, my previous paragraph contained nary an accolade, but reveals that I thought Ted Kennedy jaded while still clever enough to not forget that private sin and public virtue are utterly compatible.)

I certainly would never vote republican but seeing as how the party has no respect for its voters i see no motivation to support this party and am more than happy to stay home. What to do when you have two parties that are just as disgraceful? Where are the REAL leaders who want to make REAL progressive change? Until then...good night, and good luck.

He should have stepped down from his Senate seat once he became too ill to serve. If this election had happened months ago, the results likely have been different.

|
The people of Massachusetts deserved to have two Senators representing them, not one. What was the purpose of him retaining the title of Senator when he was no longer showing up in DC to vote?

42. Instead of the knee jerk reaction...think about what he said... |
|
and I wondered the same thing...as soon as it was obvious that Ted was terminal...he could have retired, and had his seat filled, a long time ago, that isn't putting down Ted, at all, because I understand the emotions involved...but it IS just possible, that a fellow Dem...could/would have gotten it, under those circumstances, and again because of emotions having to do with Ted..but I will admit, that it's a bit redundant to talk about it now....hindsight always being 20/20 and all...I'd suggest, however, that Scott Brown not get too used to the seat...or too confident....I think Coakley ran a terrible campaign...and past history tells us...it's never time to rest on our laurels, and expect something to be handed to us, just because...wb
