I'm going to have a MONUMENTAL pity-party tonight ...
I'm going to feel sorry for myself and the Democratic Party and HCR and Teddy and liberalism as a whole, and I'm going to have a couple of drinks and whine to my family and friends. And then tomorrow morning I'm going to figure out what I can do to make the Democratic Party a better place and stave off any further losses in November. If nothing else, this was a wake-up call for me personally, because I didn't do everything I could to help Coakley and I haven't been doing everything I can to help liberals and Democrats as a whole. If I were trying to find a positive spin in this for Democrats, it's that we may have received a much needed wake up call 10 months early. I know I did.

I just can't believe the Democrats lost that race.

2. It wasn't our finest hour, that's for sure.
But flawed candidates and poorly run campaigns still win sometimes, so again I have to look at myself and ask, what didn't I do to help out.

3. This is EXACTLY what I'm hoping will happen...
.... we were ALL in a slumber, the people of Mass, the Democratic party, the President and myself.

It's time to WAKE UP!!!!

4. Clio, I've been reading your posts all night :)
I wasn't kidding and I know you aren't either. I gave money only at the very last minute and made calls only when Coakley started to really descend in the polls. I'm fortunate enough, thankfully, to have had both money and time to burn and I didn't do anything with either.

Bigger picture - as poor a campaign as Coakley ran, I still think Democrats may have been handed a pink slip post-dated 10 months early, and 10 months is a lot of time to turn things around. I'm currently looking forward to the SOTU next week to see what transpires.

5. I think I'll post some snippits from the President's speeches the last few days...
.... I think we're in better shape than we think they are. He might have been clueless about the Mass race a few weeks ago, but her certainly has a clue now.

(some in the House have me scared to death but I'm hoping they're just posturing in a time when they have the most leverage)
