1. As I've said numerous times, DC has corrupted Barack. He needs to either push forward

full speed ahead, or take a vacation to do some soul searching.

What we've been doing, as correct and honorable as it is, certainly doesn't appear to have been properly executed.

5. DC corrupted Obama????
Now, that's funny. Obama is a product of the Daley machinery. Some of you were blinded by his easy manner and oratorical skills.

:D

We should have spent the last year burying the GOP. Instead we spent it trying to win them over. WTF?!?! Arggh!!!!

4. I can't believe the Dems have screwed up health care reform so badly
they have managed to take what should have been a historic achievement and a proud accomplishment they could run on for years to come, and turned it into a political liability that will likely hurt them in the next election whether they pass it or not.

10. Sorry, but things have improved significantly!
Last year about this time we were losing 750,000 jobs per month,
and Bush was still in office till tomorrow.

The Iraq war as still raging on,
and Afghanistan was still a clusterfuck.

Wall Street was about to go down and take us with them,
stock market was 700 points lower,

and the world hated us with a passion.

Now, that was a load of shit.

Currently, not so much.

Want to try another whine?

35. Some People?
Unfortunately it is a lot more than "some",when a deep blue state like Mass. elects a republican unknown over the state's democratic AG it represents a sea change in the political climate. The people of Mass. are very politically savvy. This was done knowing it would seriously damage or kill Obama's health care plan, the centerpiece of his agenda.Go figure..........

14. You are right but we've done a really lousy job telling that story
and by "we" I mean all the elected D's who have appeared on TV talk shows and the Democratic candidates like Deeds and Coakley. We are doing a very poor job of talking credit for avoiding another big depression.

We've done an even worse job of selling our change program. The support for healthcare reform of any kind had dropped dramatically as has support for cap and trade.

Republicans have stayed on message and by repeating their mantra at every opportunity they have made enough converts to win a few elections.

Democrats need to point out and take credit for every improvement in the economy over the next few months and shout it loudly. Your retirement portfolio better now than it was in March of this year? Thank a Democrat.

32. The media interviews Liz Cheney
Republicans not only stay on message, they have a "base" that does not stay home and nurse "disappointment" for not getting a right wing paradise out of the Republicans. They give the Republicans time for that and when they still don't get it and the Republicans lose, they are still out there fighting!

31. None of that apparently counts at all to the "progressives"
Look at this thread, people claiming there is "no change."

If they didn't get all they wanted within one year, they will stay home and nurse their "disappointment" and let Republicans win, so there!

11. I'm just disappointed in my country
Both sides of the aisle cant even come together on issues. one would rather play political games while the other would write a bill that would benefit corporate america more than the tax payer just to get something passed.

Health care coverage system is a failure
Education system is sub-par

And locally in the Hampton roads area the ROADS are crap.

Im not happy with my country

He didn't make the rules and American politics is more fixed than the NBA!

As for all the "Bush did it crap" BUSH DID SQUAT FOR CONSERVATIVE VOTERS! Not one, anything he did was for corporations and the top 1% because that is how the game is rigged. (He did put assholes on the Supreme Court that will help the Conservative Agenda)

and then much more, right?

He's not the Magic Negro, you know.

How long did Clinton get?
How long did Bush get?

Why does Obama only get a year?

How is that fair in anyway, shape or form?

22. Do you think we are further along today than we were on Inauguration Day? Think really hard

on that one. Seriously, Frenchie - push away from the keyboard and think REALLY HARD
on it for a few moments.

Think about the exuberance we had just 365 days ago, and all of the possibilities that lay ahead
if the plans were properly executed. Nothing could stop us with the majority we held.

Do the Pukes trust him now? Nooooo, they never gave him a chance!

Do the Independents trust him now? According to recent national polls and tonight's Massachusetts vote, Noooo

Do the Progressives trust him now? Well, do you?

It's an uphill climb for Barack. His every move is scrutinized now. Quite frankly, after seeing his most recent HCR
negotiations, it's quite understandable why even us Progressives doubt his intentions and loyalties to the Base.

A president can do a lot with Political Capital. Sadly, Barack's appears to be already spent. Congress doesn't
have his back anymore.

That wasn't the case 12 months ago.

34. That is because the alleged base disappears so quickly!
The Republicans would not be fighting against a bill any President of theirs could get.

You can take your Hopefulness I don't know where, because it could not have been that strong if you are already dissing the President.

Or you never did understand how sluggish the system is designed to be.

if it's a choice between being involved with someone who posts (or believes) things like you have- and staying home- a whole lot of folks are going to be staying home.

That's just basic human nature- and sadly enough, Republican strategists understand how it works a lot better than Democratic one in charge seem to these days (or back prior to 2005).

17. It is to be expected somewhat
2009 was payback for 25 years of shit governing. People don't want to reflect on the problems and what is needed to take corrective action. They want a quick fix. It is the American way, better not addressing issues and just hooking the sunshine pump up to the collective asses rather than working hard at the fixes.

things in setting mpg goals, disallowing outer continental shelf drilling in the US, and dozens of other initiatives.

I'm concerned about Barack's consistency, though. At times he wear horns, other times hallows. I don't
know who to trust from day to day.

Lending $2 billion dollars to Brazil's Petrobras for the exploration of black gold in Brazil's Tupi offshore oil
field near Rio de Janeiro, and endangering the shoreline and air there, was just plain STUPID. Why did Barack feel
the need to go do that last year? He could have nudged the Brazilian's to Solar or Wind energy.

There's still time to get our planet on the mend.

But Barack needs to be reminded for whom he works. It isn't Petrobras Corp, Blue Cross or Bayer Pharmaceutical.
It's you and I, the people who elected him.

36. Pres. Obama needs to show he has passion
about something more than just getting himself elected. If he's not going to end the wars, then he needs to visit Iraq and Afghanistan and spend time with the troops. If you are the one signing the orders for soldiers to serve and die, you can't be halfway for a war and halfway against it. He needs to stop spending 2 week vacations in Hawaii. Yes, I know he grew up there. So what? He could have stayed in Washington where he and his family worked for charities and he could have encouraged the rest of us to do so as well--thus highlighting the need for health care reform and showing that he is keenly aware of and compassionate about the millions of Americans who are hurting now. We need to have a leader who calls us to higher purposes and leads by example, and I don't feel that in Pres. Obama now. But it's not too late--I hope.
