What's wrong with Independents? |
|
The so-called moderate/centerist voters who are so concerned about the deficit. Do they have no memories? Don't they remember that it was the Republicans that gave us those big deficits in the first place?

1. They want their pony NOW |

They are like children. The people who voted for Brown are like spoiled children who don't care what the reason might be behind the fix they find themselves in. They want their instant gratification NOW. Unbelievable.

2. "Independents" means... |
|
"I'm really a Republican, but I want to keep my Democratic friends/business associates/customers"...or:
"I'm really a Republican, but like looking like I'm 'open minded' before I go ahead and vote Republican anyway".

they don't want the stigma of being a republican attached to them. I think a lot of people forget about that and start imagining naderites.

6. They are the Mindless Middle |
|
They worry about the deficit because it's a really big number. They want health care reform but don't want to make any compromises (in fairness, this describes liberals and conservatives, too). They vote Democratic because they are sick of Republicans and Republican a year later because the Democrats haven't fixed everything yet. They want Obama to bring change to Washington, but they don't want him to pass any of his agenda because it's "too far left".
And they know almost nothing about the issues, anyway.

10. Independents don't have any values at all. |
|
Or they believe they can fool people into believing that they are open minded and have good judgment.
In reality, they know their values are not as clean as they want people to believe and they don't know diddly squat about the issues.

...disgusted by Bush, or former "Reagan Democrats." When pundits go off on these breathless dialogues about "independents" blah blah blah, they never mention this.

Yes, I hate the deficits. I hate the wars. But I hate trickery too. The Dem establishment and powerful set up FAILURE. I don't believe the bought and paid for Congress do in fact serve the people.

They don't exist. Maybe it's time you came to terms that polticians and pundits are yanking your chain when they mention "centrists".
Democrats are have been running on the legacy of FDR and LBJ for too long without delivering. The voters had no where to turn in this election as both candidates were actually really conservative.

17. They want govt. to create jobs. But also to cut taxes. And cut the deficit. |
|
And they want health care reform. But they don't want it to cost too much. And they don't want "too much government." But they do want increased spending on health care and education. And they think we should have divided government because it means the parties will "work together." Because "bipartisan" solutions are the best ones.
