"The same thing that swept Scott Brown into office swept me into office."
It is very encouraging, IMO, to hear the President acknowledge this fact, in such a clear and straightforward way.

...The president also said the same voter anger that swept him into office in 2008 carried Brown into office on a stunning upset victory Tuesday night over heavily favored Democrat Martha Coakley.

"Here's my assessment of not just the vote in Massachusetts, but the mood around the country: the same thing that swept Scott Brown into office swept me into office," the president said in an exclusive interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos. "People are angry and they are frustrated. Not just because of what's happened in the last year or two years, but what's happened over the last eight years."

1. A-freaking-men, Obama
The problem is, American voters don't think beyond today. They are like children.

How foolish of them to forget this mess was brought on by people just like Brown.

3. Oh, no question about that. Sometimes 'voting' is merely lashing out, sadly. - n/t

9. No one's forgotten
But it was this administration that has continued some of the Bush policies, especially those that gave the WH a little more access to power that no one before Bush had.

This mess as you refer to it was also the responsibility of the Democratic majority after 2006, constanly keeping their "powder dry".

Americans like fighters not weak as water spineless jellyfish who keep waiting for the opportune moment to do the job.

4. Prove you understand--fire Geithner, Summers, Emannuel, et al.
Until you do, you're fighting AGAINST that national sentiment that swept you into office.

Does he want to be a one-termer? This is a serious question.

6. Sure, if you like a leader who empathises with the enemy
I wish we had elected someone more like Howard Dean to the presidency last election. I'm sure, absolutely certain, if we had done that, we wouldn't be sitting here today hearing OUR leader offer a comforting hug to the opposition. We would also have a decent health CARE bill.

He has to have that lightbulb come on that says there is a real or at the very least a perceived connection between what he is doing and what started the revolving door of "throwing the bums out" that started in 06 or before.

What good bills has this President signed into law? With nearly 60 votes you'd think we could get something accomplished. I guess there has been some things, but generally speaking he hasn't done shit (yes, I know that's very much at fault of Dem leadershit on Capital Hill).

The Republicans may be bad, but they didn't seem to have trouble passing their crap during the Bush reign of error. I mean shit...they made it easier for corporations to declare bankruptcy, yet harder for the average Joe to do so...THIS type of shit passes and no one notices or cares and for that...they get fucking re-elected.

Dem leadership needs to change.

I think it really is that simple, on a certain level. There is a seething atmosphere of discontent out there, sadly, taking many forms. :(

Using the last eight years includes one year of Obama's term, and lets Bush off the hook for HIS first year.
