What do you think of this Health Care Bill, I know u could get a couple of republicans |
|
1)Fix the Pre-Existing condition problem 2)Open things up where people can buy insurance out of state 3)Drug Importation 4)Don't bring Medicare up at all 5)Tax cuts for businesses that offer health care to employees
Maybe u can add some more stuff, but I think u can get a couple of Repukes if u did this. WOuld it bring down cost at all though?

5. because a couple of your points are Republican favorites |

there are those who may think you're... ahem... trolling. Obviously, only time will tell on that, but I don't think this one post is a firm basis for such a perception.

4. I don't think it will work as you've proposed it. |

First, 'Publicans aren't going to vote for anything, whether they agree with it or not, because their goal is to keep the Dems from doing anything. Period.
You can't fix the pre-existing condition problem without either universal mandates or making insurance too expensive to buy.
The "Out of State" solution will simply lead to a race to the bottom, as insurance companies scramble to relocate to which ever state has the worst consumer protections. Much the way credit card companies scrambled to incorporate in Delaware or South Dakota, because those states are much more lenient when it comes to things like capping interest rates and regulating add-on fees. A lot of people may be able to buy policies, but they'd be worthless policies.
However, drug importation is a great idea, and it alone could save consumers a lot of money.
Tax cuts for employers that offer health care could be useful, if those cuts are tied to making sure the insurance offered is actually good insurance.
But bottom line, Publican's whole strategy is to stop *everything*. Period. So whatever you do, you'll have to do with Democratic votes alone.
