OK, so House Dem caucus meets tomorrow at 9:00 am |
|
Let's assume that they reach agreement tonight over the phones and everyone gets enough to make them want to vote for the Senate bill with goodies added/subtracted via reconciliation.
How long would it take to get it done? Could they at least vote on part of it (the Senate part) before SOTU?

2. Yes, but if they add reconciliation provisions at the same time |
|
fixing the things that MA voters didn't like - mandates and the Cadillac tax - those items would require Senate action via reconciliation, but at least Obama could say in SOTU that he heard the people and cleaned it up so that it now meets their satisfaction.

their goose may be cooked either way, but killing the bill doesn't just cook, it incinerates their goose.
and that's what they are going to be told.
progressives might end up hearing about how Harkin, Boxer and Sanders voted for it and why with all its flaws they felt they had to.
