An exercise -- What would you say to convince a non-ideological Independent to support Democrats? |
|

Okay, with all this soul searching going on, here;s a hypothetical exercise.
(I'm serious and curious. If anyone replies, I promise I'll behave and be a good boy in any replies I might make.)
What would you say to a hypothetical non-ideological, non-political independent to convincve them to support the Democratic Party? Let's say it's a person who is primarily concerned with the economic well being of his/her family, who doesn't follow politics very closely beyond the MSM, but also has a basic sense of decency as well.
To make it current, let's say this person is not sure whether to vote for either Brown or Coakley.
One request -- "We're not Republicans" isn't part of the pitch, except to compare the specifics of what to what they do and their goals.

I can relate.
But I'm trying to focus on the idea of the Democratic Party.

and how they are created. Reugs have tried a decade of tax cuts and deregulation - that did NOT work. The only way forward is to invest in our future wisely, and that means seed money from the government because the private sector is not going to get the whole job done. They haven't so far.
Being independant is good, but in the end of the day the choice is between Dems and Reps way of doing things, and the Dem way creates more jobs. A good, vibrant job market is what truely allows us to be free and independant.
