DEMs: it's time to kick Judas Joe Lieberman to the curb - NOW. |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 10:22 PM by Barrymores Ghost
18-seat majority or 17-seat...it hardly matters now, does it?
Strip that mush-mouthed, pasty-jowled, dickless, turncoat douche-nozzle of his chairmanship on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, remove him from every other committee his sits on, boot him from the Democratic Caucus (he no longer attends leadership or policy meetings anyway), and leave him naked and bleeding in the fucking street.
Worthless, quivering turd doesn't even have the sack to admit he's a fucking Republicunt. Let's see how he likes being insignificant.

1. Why lose his vote 100% of the time when you can get it at least some of the time? |

4. If he stands on his "convictions," we won't have to worry about that, will we? |
|
But, the thing is, he doesn't have any. Anyway, like I said, his vote is inconsequential at this point, given that there's no issue of a super-majority at stake anymore.

You are absolutely right but why let logic stand in the way of blood lust?

And can you appreciate the fact, now that a super-majority is no longer the be-all-end-all for getting things done in the Senate, that Lieberman (I-Aetna) doesn't MATTER anymore, and that the rest of the wishy-washers should be sent a message?
It's not blood lust I'm talking about - it's party discipline. Lieberman is no longer a Democrat. He never WAS a progressive. He is a craven opportunist. He made that official in his traitorous quest to keep his power. If he is someone who stands upon the courage of his convictions, rather than what is simply politically expedient, then he will vote his conscience. If he has no conscience, then I don't want him associating himself with my fucking party's caucus just so he can sit in the big comfy chair in a couple of antechambers. Period.
Do we understand each other now?

16. Let me explain more clearly |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-21-10 01:27 PM by Jersey Devil
I think Lieberman is a complete douchebag. I'd be tempted to spit on him if he came near me. But if I could get his vote to pass major progressive legislation I'd set him up on a throne with a sceptre and kiss his ass in Macy's window. That's politics and "strange bedfellows", at least if you want to get things done in Washington it is. And it is the reason why he hasn't been and probably will not be tossed from the Dem Caucus.
No, we won't get his vote on progressive HCR (though we DID get it on the current Senate bill) and probably not on some other things, especially war issues. But there are many other progressive causes that he probably will be there 90% of the time.
Would I feel good about kissing his ass? Absolutely not and in fact I'd probably want to flog myself with a whip for doing it. But if it meant accomplishing things for people, especially people in need or many of the other progressive issues he clearly is on board for, I'd suck it up and do what was necessary.

...that the Bush Administration did ANYTHING it wanted to between January 2005 and January 2009 having lost the House and with only a ten-seat advantage in the Senate. We now hold BOTH houses of Congress by a significantly larger majority.
Lieberman only matters as an object lesson to others. He can crawl into bed with and fellate whoever the hell he wants to at this point. He's inconsequential, other than as an example to others as to what happens when you shit where you eat.
THAT's politics.

21. No, Bush didn't get "anything it wanted", not by a longshot |
|
He couldn't even get judges confirmed. The only thing he got was funding for the wars because Democrats were afraid of looking unpatriotic and a lot of them, certainly more than just Lieberman, voted with the Republicans.
Other than that, name one major policy initiative from Bush that passed Congress during that time period.

18. In my case, it is principles: the man stood on a stage with Palin smiling and agreeing by nodding |
|
his head when she called Obama a terrorist. When people screamed "kill him", Lieberman smiled along with Palin. I realize the senate has no honor ("no honor among thieves"), but some things matter. Decency for one.

Exactly my thoughts. Principles matter. When they no longer matter, we've become Republicans.

There should be a message sent that Libermann's behavior carries with it dire consequences.
He's been getting away with murder for way too long and he's been flaunting his swing vote position way too long. We don't need him or want him any more.

8. I wonder what he'll get from the Republicans for being the 42nd vote against Democrats |
|
when they come back to power? I'll bet he gets nothing. So what's it worth for him to be the 59th vote that can't really beat a filibuster?
Absolutely nothing. He maintains his power and chairmanship in the Senate only because it preserves the toxic good old boy network.
Shameful.
