How depressed are you? SCOTUS decision, Brown, etc. |
|
Shit, at least if you're a conservative Republican you know that no matter how bad things might get temporarily, you know that your side is going to come out on top again.
We, on the other hand, seem to be masters of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory -- or of getting our asses kicked by forces beyond our control.

2. More disappointed and a lot of rage today. |

Democrats prove their weakness time and time again.
They take a grand opportunity and squander it with hardly any results from the American people.

25. Yah, I'm in the same place. The door was open with a majority in the House |
|
and a super majority (kinda) in the senate and they basically got nothing done. I appreciate a lot of what is in the credit card rules going in to effect next month but it didn't do everything it should. Lobbyist's still watered it down significantly from what is needed. Almost no mortgages were modified in any way to actually help people stay in their homes yet over a trillion was spent in keeping the fraudsters from being inconvenienced with poor results.
I don't see things getting any better. They will have more excuses now for not changing anything. There will be huge losses now come next election.

I don't know what we can do. I'm sort of questioning how I'm going to live the rest of my life knowing that I'm not in any way in control of government as a voter. Every day it's some other dispiriting thing. It feels like a trend. Has it always been this way or was the last good thing that happened in this country the moon landing?
... Which of course happened on the moon, lol.

At 57, I've learned to accept that it's usually ying and yang, action and reaction, the swinging pendulum, etc.
Trying to keep that in mind is how i keep perspectibg.
But what pisses me off and depresses me is that the fucking wimp Democratic Party always seems to find ways to blow when it's supposed to be their turn at the wheel.

17. Nobody has mentioned Obama in this thread, Frenchie. |
|
We're criticizing the Supreme Court and various other people/events regarding Brown.
If anything, Obama has been the good guy in both these instances -- getting Sotomayor appointed, holding a rally for Coakley even though it may have given the opposition more ammo with which to criticize him.
Don't take it personally against Obama.

|
It seems to be an accepted fact that Dems, as you say, 'snatch defeat from the jaws of victory'. Patrick Kennedy alluded to it when he was being interviewed about Brown's victory. It's not cute. Why do we perpetuate it? It's honestly beyond my comprehension.

In fact, I suspect that there will be some unintended (unforeseen) consequences in both of instances.

many who have now awaken, are only angry now because they now are feeling what many of us have been feeling for years.
We have always wanted our country back as we watched repugs taking away all of our rights. Many who thought they were comfortable didn't want to hear what was going on so now, they join a teaparty with the people who brought them this mess.
Too bad that they don't know that they are getting "fooled again" Dumbasses!
A lot of people in the Dem party are falling into their trap also, divide and conquer and it has been working at least here on DU. They have infiltrated Du and have been posting their bullshit for months. Some Dems fell into their little trap of thinking that the President could do everything in the first year, really in the first few months.
I have never seen people expect so much out of any President so quickly and some of the issues were so minor or they weren't the most important things on the plate,we spent so much time arguing over what really the Trolls have been posting to divide us..
In the meantime, the republiCONS,Wall street,Chamber of commerce are trying to slowly kill us softly with their song,as we fight among ourselves.
The CONS go right on tv and tell us that they are the populists while in the same breath tell us everything needs to be privatized and they tell us that corporations make jobs so they are more important than us. They put the corporation's interest ahead of the people.
