Corporations will now openly buy canidates and pay for them.. and laugh all the way to the bank as they get their way with our laws.

2000 when the election was stolen by the SCOTUS.. I did not think of moving to Canada..

In 2004, we did not get rid of Bush, but I had the knowledge that the system was still geared to the voter, the citizen.. oh we had lobbyists up the wazoo.. but in the end we could still correct things when elections were messed with.

Then K-Streeters have won.

But this letting the corporations, openly buy and sell politicians.. the world has tilted on its axis.

I may have to look somewhere else, because my country just got sold down the river.

It maybe okay for a few years.. but we all know where this is headed.

Over the edge

EDIT TO ADD: The most righteous rant ever from Olbermann tonight.. He nailed it.. we are losing our Democracy..

1. I never thought I'd say this...
But I'm with you. Our country is gone... RIP America... so we wouldn't be leaving our native land, per se, merely its corpse.

I'm thinking Norway. What with global warming, it will be the new So Cal.

5. JuniperLea, I have never had such a feeling of loss.. as I did today..
The idea that corporations with their limitless money, has a greater voice than you and I.. no need for lobbyists anymore.. they will own us.

8. It's the same kind of feeling I got watching the tail end of Food, Inc.
The portion about Monsanto and the seed cleaners. Angry and helpless at the same time.

7. Norway will be fucked by GW
It's long been speculated that climate change will fuck up the gulf stream. Say goodbye to a habitable Northern Europe if that happens.

3. Even when Bush won in 2004?? I was totally devastated..
I could not believe this country elected that idiot twice. I even sent in my packet but it got rejected because I sent the fee in US dollars not Canadian. Oops. After that I decided to give America another try.

6. In 1973, I had a choice to remain in Austria, or come back to the U.S.
I had made friends there. They wanted me to stay. But I came back to finish college, and have stayed ever since.

For most of these years, it has made sense. If I was 22 again now, I would get the hell out of here as soon as possible.

15. It was complete under W. We are just now feeling its power.
Rupert Murdoch controls the minds. Wall Street controls the power. We pay for both. We are fucked.

The "I sure fucked up" feeling... but what are you gonna do with that perfect 20/20 hindsight?

18. Yes, I heard it also.
I can't remember who posted the link to KO - powerful stuff.

Eviscerating Social Security is next on the agenda.

It is frightening... where are we heading? Toward the edge of a cliff?

11. Many of us knew this case was coming last summer
it was only a matter of when the decision would be published- and what the lines of "reasoning" (sophistry) would be.

My guess is that history will look back at 2004 as the last chance America had to turn itself around and avoid the same fate that's befallen so many other great nations- or empires of the past.

17. I had a recurring nightmare in my early 20's....
I was escaping to Canada with all of my money (didn't have any then) and had to cross the border in the back of a panel truck. I just had the same dream, last night, 40 years later. It must have been because the SCOTUS decision was due today. By the way, I still don't have much money.
