Here's What Obama Needs to Do to Get Back On Track
In light of the SCOTUS decision, the lack of support for the Senate HCR Bill (amoung the people)...and the general dislike of it altogether, and stumbles he made in his 1st year, Barack Obama needs to spend 2010 rebuilding his campaign base. You remember? The millions of new, young registered voters and Independents (who have already given up on him). To do this he needs to lay the groundwork first.

1. Fire Rahm Emmanuel, Timothy Geithner, etc. He needs to bring in fresh, untainted blood. Out-of-the-box thinkers who aren't controlled by someone yet. Progressives would help.

2. Passion. Great speaker. Great family. Great look. ZERO Passion! This guy needs to get mad. And I don't mean like a raving lunatic, but he needs to show that he REALLY cares about this. I'm sure in his heart he really does, but it's not getting through to people the way it used to. More and more he's coming off as distant and non-chalant. He doesn't even raise his voice. He stays at one level and doesn't go up.

3. Spend the rest of 2010 and 2011 using the grassroots as a political force. Believe me, if Obama did the 2 above things and really came out hard against the Big Banks and Wall Street and said he needed American support through rallies and protests...I would hop in a car the next second and head to Washington. He's not going to get help from the MSM or big-monied interests. His only hope may be US. But for Progressives and Indies to rally in his support...THEY need support!!! Obama needs to act like he wants us to act on his behalf and say what he can't say.

We're at the point now in American history where MANY people of various cultural backgrounds, economic lifestyles (low or middle class families), and political stripes are tired of Washington. To the point of anger and rage. Tired of Wall Street. Tire of getting screwed over. They want action and they want it NOW! Barack Obama has to realize that if he fails in this, HE will be blamed (no matter how unfair that may be). And his historic win will take the backseat to what will be seen as a lackluster and ineffective presidency. He will be forever compared to Jimmy Carter...not FDR. It'll not only set back the Democratic Party, but Progressive policies and even Black candidates for another decade or more. We mock and make fun of Teabaggers and racist Rethugs, but since Democrats aren't standing on principal and their beliefs...their words are going unchallenged. I WANT OBAMA TO SUCCEED!! But I refuse to be blind and sit back and watch him fail and squander the best opportunity the party has had in over a generation...because he wanted to play nice. Or because he didn't want to come off as angry. Or bite the hands that fed him during his campaign. Or whatever the case may be for his unusual attitude.

1. I agree on the grasssroots motivation and passion.
As for the firings, it needs to be done carefully. It could be spun as a sign of weakness if not handles correctly.
