Pence to Decide About Senate Bid This Weekend
Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) says he and his wife will “take the weekend” to decide whether to run for the Senate this year.

Pence said Friday on WIBC radio host Greg Garrison’s program that he’s been “flattered” and “humbled” by calls for him to challenge Sen. Evan Bayh (D).

Pence, who ranks third in House GOP leadership as the chairman of the Republican Conference, confirmed that he met Thursday with National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn (Texas) and his political staff.

“What we’re really trying to discern is, Where can we best serve our constituents, our conservative values and the country in 2010?” Pence said.

Though Pence hasn’t come to a decision, he seemed to lay out a stronger case for continuing to serve in the House, where he has a safe seat. Pence noted that he holds a leadership position and thinks Republicans can win a majority in the House this year. The path to a Republican majority in the Senate, however, is even more difficult.

1. Pence could be a serious challenge to Bayh...
..if things really turn sour for Dems in November.

That was the problem with Brown's win Tuesday, a lot of top tier Republican's are going to jump into the fray. With some better candidates and a wave election breaking against us, even people like Bayh could go down.
