Hayworth Will Challenge McCain
Edited on Sat Jan-23-10 09:12 AM by Ian David
Hayworth Will Challenge McCain
Former Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ) says he is planning to challenge Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) in a primary, the Arizona Star reports.

Said Hayworth: "We will formally announce at a later time, but we're moving forward to challenge John McCain. I think we all respect John. I think his place in history is secure. But after close to a quarter-century in Washington, it's time for him to come home."

Hayworth "stepped down as host of his radio program on KFYI-AM, a conservative radio talk show in Phoenix. Legally, he would not have been able to remain host of the program and be an active candidate.

I'm thinking of donating to Hayworth in the GOP Primary, plus the Democratic challenger in the General Election.

I think that if we can afford it, we should always donate to the GOP primary opponent who is challenging the incumbent.

2. Mistake. He needs to run as the Teabagger candidate.
We need to encourage teabaggers to put up third party candidates in all 50 states.

4. As much as I despise McCain, I can't see anyone beating him.
Most Repug Zonies will vote for him over JD and McCain has a LOT of money in his campaign fund. We need a strong Dem candidate here if we are to have a chance, but Who? No clue.

16. B.C. Hayworth makes McCain seem pos'tively modrin.
Maybe this is all a good thing: maybe the trogs will overreach with arrogant reactionary bluster right at a time when they could plausibly turn the tables on us with some prudent seeming-centrism.

Gonna be an interesting year. I'd love to hear the tack this swaggering loudmouth takes in deriding ol' Honest John...

10. You guys - Hayworth is WORSE than McCain - this is NOT a good thing.
JD Hayworth is a total teabagger type that thinks we should shoot Mexicans as they cross the border.

He is an idiot, was the Congressman from Tempe and thankfully was voted out.

12. He is indeed an idiot...
by far, one of the dumbest individuals to walk the halls of Congress...even his fellow Congresscritters would not go near him for fear of the stupid rubbing off.

He has the IQ of rhubarb, sorry to insult rhubarb, but this man is a true idiot...:hi:

BTW, I lived in Kingman for a few years...I liked AZ, still do, but circumstances have changed, and I made a move...to another Red State...NE...:eyes:

..I don't, of course, support McCain either and couldn't vote for him (I will be voting for his challenger in the GE, whoever that turns out to be) but given the choice between the two, I'd much rather McCain stay on (IF it must be a Repub..)

11. I was a resident of AZ when Hayworth first went to the House...
not my District, but he has to be one of the stupidest men ever to serve in Congress. I do not say this with any insincerity. In virtually every instance, this man showed his profound ignorance in every issue he decided to take on. He is truly an idiot...I saw him several times on C-SPAN and he was SO dumb, I was embarrassed.

He went in under the "Gingrich Revolution" and was finally tossed out after the good people of AZ realized he was an incredible embarrassment, not just to the district and the state, but to humanity!...:D

15. Zombie Blowhard Cavemen roam the desert wastes...
What next, the return of Tom Delay?

What about Dick Armey? Washington's a wet town, after all...

Hey, how about Phil Gramm and his evil moll Wendy? Such great talent wasted.

Haven't heard much from Bob Barr lately; can't get much gooder'n him.

I could believe anything these days, even welshing on letting the tax cuts expire...

Sometimes it's just so hard to watch.

17. They both need to retire to their ratholes..
However, inner fights between the teabags, what's the downside?

Who's the Dem running against the gop who plays dirtiest?
