his veering to the right is a result of calculated decisions, whether right or wrong, to enhance his election/re-election chances. Just like he started wearing the flag lapel pin during the campaign, after his decision not to wear it based on principle, he has reversed course on most things because of what he's been told is sellable to the public. Although I believe that Obama and his advisers come to the wrong conclusions most of the time, from a strategic standpoint everything Obama does and every policy decision reached is with re-election in mind, all other considerations being absent.
