Yo Plouffe! You don't want me hostin a SOTU house party! |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-25-10 04:06 PM by mdmc
1. I don't have a TV - we would need to watch the speech online @ CSPAN or listen to it on NPR. 2. My flat is covered with unpaid medical bills and unfilled prescriptions (unfilled due to cost).
I have health "insurance" that I cannot afford to utilize due to excessive out of pocket expenses. The best selling point of our reform bill is 30 million uninsured people will now be insured, but will have no access to affordable medical treatment.
ps- don't know how many du'ers got the OFA email requesting SOTU house parties. There is not one house party in Newburgh or any of the surrounding towns.

5. The more we pee on this administration |
|
for every little thing, such as a simple request for those on the mailing list to hold house parties during the SOTU, the worse it will be for all of us in a long run.
I understand being upset at the state of things, but being offended by such an email and taking the time to post about it, is really is quite ridiculous.

7. Which is obviously what we prefer, considering the disdain we show for everything! |

that way we can bitch at abandon, while the GOP gets busy tearing the country apart.
I'm just not so sure if we deserve better than GOP rule..... seriously.

while you are here -- any idea why the DLC (H.Ford) would try to primary Gillibrand from the right?
I will be carrying petitions for John Tasini, Hinchey, and Cuomo this year. I'll do what I can, while I still can. Eventually I will be disabled by my illness and will not be able to walk petitions around anymore. But I will do my part while I can.

13. I thought it would be a way to avoid a primary, imho |
|
Ford ain't gonna go nowhere in NYS. I thought that perhaps the DLC put him up to it so that Gillibrand would not have a real primary (she will have a challenge from the left, but it probably won't go anywhere)..

Newburgh is down and out.. hard times here.. There are at least 15 house parties within 40 miles of Newburgh. There is not one party in Newburgh proper - none in a border town..

19. Well, Newburgh (orange county) elected Bush/Cheney by a landslide in 2004 |
|
54% to Kerry's 44%. And Obama seems barely to have won there in 2008 (51%, one of the lower county tallies in the state). So you shouldn't be surprised. It looks like a pretty conservative place.
I'd like to ask, as an aside, if you are an American. I'm not being nosy, but I just noticed that you used the term "flat" instead of apartment, and "border towns" -- not very typical American locutions, so I was just wondering. There's nothing wrong if you aren't a native-born American. I'm merely curious as to the perspective you bring.
