I'm so upset... This will be the 2nd SOTU we can't do a drinking game with... |
|
The rules for the previous SOTU's were so simple;
"Nucular" - drink! "Terrist" - drink! "9/11" - drink! "Untamed fires of Freedom" - Burst out laughing, then drink! "Al-Qaeda" - draw from the deck, lowest card drinks everyone else's drink! "bin Laden" - Highest draw drinks all! "Weapons of Mass Distruction" - Get under the table and drink!
We never made it past 10 minutes.
*Sigh*, it's so hard to come up with rules for this new guy.

"Hope" was mentioned 3 times... unless you include 'hopeless'... then it's 4.
"Bipartisan" was once.
Just not any fun... he rarely mispronounces words, there aren't any burst out laughing points... it's just too... sober

30. The funny thing is that the R's won't cheer him no matter what he does. |
|
He'll always be a "socialist", "far-left extremist" for them, no matter how pro-corporate and Republican in essence his policies may be.
It's a shame, really; he could be practicing/pursuing a truly progressive agenda, and still he would be called the same names by the RW as he is now.

Shit, just the word 'Iraq' would have sent someone to the hospital during W's SOTU.
Picking words like 'is' or 'I' just doesn't really make it a game either.

29. How about every tenth time he looks at the teleprompter to his left... |
|
and every fifteenth time he looks at the teleprompter to his right. That's for the beer. Every time he says "Let me be clear" we'll reserve for shots of tequila. Preferrably good tequila.
I swear sometimes it's like watching someone watch a basketball game or a very slow tennis match.

Obama addressed Congress in 2009, and on national television; http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/25/us/politics/25obama.htmlI counted it as a 'drinking game'. It was very disappointing... in that regard.

40. This is his first SOTU |
|
While last year's speech was before a joint session, it was not a SOTU. Presidents never give a SOTU within their first year of office (although the timing of the speech is due to tradition, since the Constitution does not specify when or how often, just that it is required from time to time).

I'm sure he will repeat a number of inane issues that the right wing holds dear: tax cuts, tax increases, government spending, etc.
Just be thankful that you only have to listen to him tonight, us Virginians are stuck with him as our Governor for four years. :(
