Not all spending is good spending.
Remember that the king of cronyism was president for 8 freaking years. Think of all the contracts he could have sneaked in for his buddies. I would love if Obama and team culled the budget for this crap and suicide it.

This is an opportunity to stop handing out fun money to the bad guys. We should be celebrating.

2. I wish they'd go after defense spending.
I was in the military and saw the waste, fraud, and abuse firsthand.

3. If I was convinced that the people that OWN this government would let that happen, I'd support it.
But they do, and they won't.

6. Of course not
The amount of waste in the government is what "appalling", but what would our lives be if we won't get hysterical by every breath this president take?

7. You forget your audience
A great many DU'ers don't care for your "logic" or your "reasoning"

They just see Obama and they go into full fucking hysterical hatred mode.

What the fuck happened in the last two years that DU became a spawning ground for these idiots, anyway? i'm half-tempted to blame the addition of hte unrec feature, but that's rather trite

I want smart spending

11. Al Gore knew how to slash a budget while preserving critical programs
but since he's a Progressive no one on Obama's team will speak with him.

14. Al has been in plenty of contact with Obama, especially regarding the environment.
Gore wants to be on the outside of govt. as he thinks he is more powerful and persuasive that way. He succeeded in getting us all to talk about climate change so I don't think that is a bad idea.
Gore was who I wanted to run for President but he chose not to. He did this a long time ago...Reinventing Government. Obama seems to want to do the same thing. The only thing with ReGo is that not all the things Gore recommended got done. And Bush became President.

18. I'm fine with that but still feel those funds shoulf be repurposed at this time
into more effective stimulus and relief.

Every shred of resources need to be pumped into this listless economy. In fact there is so little private sector demand that even "bad" spending is better than not spending.
