GOP indicates fight on repealing DADT

http://congress.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/01/27/gays-in-the-military-repeal-sought-republicans-balk/

And Sen. John Cornyn, R-TX, a member of the Armed Services Committee and head of the Senate GOP campaign committee, echoed that sentiment, telling Fox, "At a time when we're putting our men and women through long deployments, it's really not a good idea to engage in social engineering in the military."

Cornyn was adamant, "I think it's not a good idea."

One thing is clear about the line in the speech, Obama sets no hard deadline (Washington is not good at them). He only sets a target of "this year," which could be disappointing to a key constituency which has not been too keen on the Obama agenda so far, despite some gains.

The wall of Republican opposition could well have gotten a bit stronger. In the Senate, the GOP, as a result of the Massachusetts Senate race, has enough numbers to mount a filibuster.

3. It looked to me as if Gates applauded the President's assertion on DADT.
My guess is that his word will be worth something as the fight gets fought.

The Pukes are gonna lose this one. I hope they're ready.

4. How about Snowe and Collins?
Or even Scott Brown? I'm not certain that all Republicans will favor DADT.

5. Ugh. Cornyn is a reason to question law schools, after idiot son.
Social engineering? Where did that come from? He's an asswipe that has no clue.

Cornyn must have done acid, because his brain is fried. Educated? I can't see it.

9. What happens if it's folded into the Defense Authorization Bill?

Are they ready to kill it over repealing DADT???? I'd LOVE to see them try it!!! C'mon, GOP, just pull the trigger on that!!! The whole thing is just stupid anyway. There's "social engineering" already going on in the army. DADT already ACKNOWLEDGES that gays and lesbians are serving, albeit secretly. Knowing who is and isn't gay is NOT going to change ANYTHING!!!!

Geez!!!! I'm thinking that there needs to be an IQ test for serving in the Senate based on the stupidity that we're all forced to witness day in and day out!

It's catching the military up to society.

ETA: The military was leading society in integrating the races, I'll give them that. But here they are way behind the times.

15. That fucker Cornyn is probably still crying over an integrated military.
The ultimate irony is that the nimrod never spent a day of his life serving in uniform!
