"Just saying no to everything may be good short-term politics, but it’s not leadership. We were sent here to serve our citizens, not our ambitions. So let’s show the American people that we can do it together."

should resonate through the halls of Congress for NOW and for years to come--and shame on any, ANY of our elected officials who think otherwise.
For once, put the people first!

Awesome speech:kick:

1. I also liked it when he said "Let's get the facts straight".

2. But how do you say "let's get the facts straight" and then tout "clean coal" in the same speech?

7. The political benefit of co-opting an adversary's meaningless ...
technical position if far greater that of the dogmatic philosophical disappointment.

6. words are powerful...
especially in the context of passion...

I saw passion in our President last night. Passion for a struggling nation who are desperately looking to him for help. And he responded. And many, many people heard him. Those who choose to continue to stick their tongues out like a spoiled child only have their own karma to deal with--and karma DOES come back to visit.

I know what happens if Republicans return to power, I am uncertain what will happen if I stand by President Obama and support him for his term. I'm going to support President Obama and when his term is up I will evaluate if further support is warranted. It is true he can't do it without our support and certainly not alone.

Inspiring us to take action and to hope is part of leadership. No, it should not be the only thing.

9. the old white people in the south thought he did a great job....
.... they still aren't sure that he's not a Communist or foreign born or a A-rab .... but just the informal polling I was given at work today (didn't ask for it, news was volunteered to me) everybody's granny thought he gave a nice speech.

I'm only HALF joking .... this is how we won in 2008 and I believe will be how we'll win in 2012.

He's just "a nice young man."

14. Nice rhetoric
the question is will he follow through on it or just pass it along to Congress to deal with like he's done so much of over the last year?
