Cliff May says the presumption of innocence isn't meant for guilty people
Edited on Fri Jan-29-10 06:49 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
(If it wasn't Cliff May it sure sounded like his voice... in any event, some neocon asshole on the Ed Schultz show)

"It is absurd for KSM to enjoy the presumption of innocence in an American courtroom because there is no way AG Eric Holder thinks KSM is innocent."

Okay, let's look at that...

The presumption of innocence in American law should not apply to people the prosecutor thinks are guilty.

That means the presumption of innocence should be reserved for those trials where a prosecutor puts someone on trial who the prosecutor thinks is not guilty.

Alrighty then!

Always fun to be lectured on "seriousness" by those folks.

They now want the trials moved to military bases so they can still call the terrorists "military combatants" instead of criminals.

I guess the MIC cant make any money on criminal investigations.

4. I can't believe some one would say that.
Unless he lived in the novel 1984.
That just stands the Magna Carta, the constitution and bill of rights right on there heads.

9. How weird are people here? Two unrecs in the last minute...
WTF? Seriously... there's nothing objectionable in the OP whatsoever.

Petty, petty, petty...

If it ever crossed my mind to unrec a post solely for my opinion of the poster, rather than the actual post, I would have to count myself a very bad person.

12. The presumption of innocence is no more than a rule of evidence.
It simply means the defendant does not need to prove his innocence and that the jury can rest on the presumption of his innocence unless and until the prosecution proves his guilt with evidence.

13. Cliff May = Foundation for Defense of Democracies
And Stan Dai had an undergraduate fellowship at FDD. (See http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x7586439)

So I guess Cliff May is guilty of trying to tamper with Senator Landrieu's phone system.

Case closed, no trial needed, throw his ass in jail. Next!

16. Uh huh. If a prosecutor is trying someone they think is not guilty,
they should be fired and disbarred.

Leave it Cliff May to say something so utterly stupid.
