Here's a wild thought that i had following the Baltimore Smackdown: |
|
Is there any chance that Dems think they can get Scott Brown to vote for health care?

1. Maybe not on Health Care but Brown will be looking for an opportunity |
|
to go against his caucus on a high profile piece of legislation, it is his only hope for reelection and a year from now it won't matter so he has to do it quickly to grab that "maverick" brand.
my wild thought after Baltimore:
What do you think the did with the genius that named it the Republican Retreat!

I think his demands would be more reasonable than most.
And wouldn't that be a coup for Obama? Finally he gets his bipartisan token repub.

3. If Charlie Crist should pull off some miracle down here, he will not |
|
follow repubs in lockstep either, I'm sure of it. He would make a great Democrat, but at the time Charlie got involved in politics down here, repub was the only way to go....

6. If Charlie could get past the primary, he'd make it in the general.. |
|
However, if you are a Dem you can't vote in the primary unless you cross over. I haven't even heard of any Dem trying for the seat as of yet. I wish Grayson would toss his hat into the ring.. but I think his populism may be too extreme as of yet for FL and the Northern Joe the Scar puke region. If Rubio goes, its just another conservative asshole republican who doesn't listen to constituents and is all about Big business and the wealthy.

9. Charlie's best political move would be to switch sides. |
|
Understood that he is a moderate and there are some folks around here who think that all Dems must be progressives... but Kendrick Meek has no shot against either Rubio or Crist, And while Crist could beat Rubio easily in the Fall it's hardly a done deal in a closed primary that is going to be expensive and bloody. Crist's switching sides would be a political earthquake in Florida, that would change the landscape there for twenty years. and it would be a Political Coup for the Dems.
Or he could run as an indy. Saying that the GOP in Florida has been taken over by the loons. Probably an indy run is a more difficult path but there is little downside for us and a big upside porential

14. Actually, he should run as an indy. He has enough "star" power to run as one. |
|
That way he gets the mod. pubs and the dems. I don't think he's at all comfortable with the far right b.s. His latest moves and picks for judgeships are really disgusting.. just to pander to the far right wing idiots. If he moved to Dem all the way, I think he'd have problems... but going in as an indy, he could choose to caucus with the Dems.. He'd be far more liberal than Nelson, the conservadem. If he really wants this badly, I think Indy would be his best option of making it. AND the Dems would have choose to hang back and NOT run a candidate... or a really bad one.

7. He had voted for the MA plan |
|
And then said it was a good plan.
So I'm thinking it would only be fair to vote for a plan for the rest of us.
