Still think she's not running...
Sarah Palin's PAC raised $1.4 million in final six months of 2009
Sarah PAC, the political action committee of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, collected $1.4 million over the final six months of 2009, a solid -- if not spectacular -- total that demonstrates her fundraising capacity as she mulls a bid for national office in 2012.

"We are thrilled," said Palin senior adviser Meg Stapleton about the fundraising total. "Common sense Americans know the direction we need to take this country and that Sarah Palin will be instrumental in taking us there this year."

For the year, Palin raised roughly $2.1 million through Sarah PAC and ended the year with $900,000 in the bank. She donated $64,600 to candidates and party committees.

That relatively high burn rate is due to an expansion of the organization's staff, according to those familiar with its operations. (Remember that with Palin out of office -- she resigned the governorship in July 2009 -- her PAC is her only political and policy vehicle.)

3. She may
And I tend to think it will be good for the dems as she will cause more and more strife among the so-called base, she is dumb as a sack of hammers(and that is a compliment to her and I apologize to all hammers out there) and she will cause splits in their base because the other hammers will follow her..

7. I just don't think it will be good for
anyone if Palin runs for president. This woman has divided this country to the point of madness. She started with her rallies and it spread like a virus. People that were sensible act as if they are out of their darn minds. She started the death panel mess that got elderly people panicking. Now she has her own base going nuts. As if they were not batshit crazy enough. Even the damn wolves don't stand a chance with Palin. What next will she start on young people, our pets?

I have only 2-1/2 years less experience as a governor than Palin does and I could sure use the dough.

9. After the President's performance at the Republican Retreat
there isn't going to be anyone running for the head of the Republican ticket.

They are going to have to get somebody ala Sargent Shriver to fill in.

There will be intense fighting to be the Vice President, that person will have the inside track on 2016 and will not have to face Obama in a debate.

10. It occurred to me yesterday that one of the reasons she has such a loyal following
is because she didn't have to go through the GOP primary process. Yes, her smug, vindictive manner wins points with the base when all of her churlishness is directed out toward Democrats, but how will that really play when she first has to go up against Romney or Jindal or Jeb? She can't even handle herself maturely in her never ending spat with Levi.

11. She would not make it out of the primary ...
1) This PAC does not prove she is running for president. It would TOTALLY fit her MO to create the pact, like that scumbag rep who is not running against Indiana, just to syphon the money off for her personal benefit ...

2) She will NOT make it out of the primary. There ARE decent Rs who see her for the lunatic incompetent she is, and as noted, she will look tragic against Romney or whoever when it comes down to it. ALSO, she will NOT campaign well, she will be "mavericky" and do batsnot crazy stuff. Frankly, I can't see how any competent R handlers who you would need to run a presidential bid would work for her ... She has the fringe elements behind her, not doubt. But, from the very day they unvieled her at the R convention, she loses support from sane people every second she is exposed ... She can't hide or control her exposure if she is an actual presidential candidate ...

Think Guiliani's campaign, except she will get a little more support from the con types wanting to get spanked by the MILF ...

22. "There ARE decent Rs who see her for the lunatic incompetent she is"
It's not even that. They will be her opponents in a primary and they want the presidency as badly as she does, and so even if they agree with her on things and are just as incompetent as she is, they will go after her.

I could easily see some of the other Repug primary candidates in 2012 gang up to force her out -- "I don't want this young newbie upstaging ME, I've been working for xxx years"

23. They can't ...
The actual candidates will have to have a VERY light touch with Palin, because 1) Sarah and her zomebies absolutely FEED off the "victim" thing and there will be a virulent backlash on anyone major party figure who takes her on directly 2) They need to cull her supporters after she is gone ...

Again, the point here is that as much as we bang our heads off the table about it, the greater mass of Rs are not teabaggers or complete fundie loons ... There are A LOT of, in the real world, decent people who simply have bought the evil liberal boogyman thing are are voting R regardless, who are THAT far gone that given the choice between a Mittens, who really is a reasonable presidential candidate, and a lunatic, are going to vote for the reasonable candidate ...

And, again, once she is front and center, she WILL act a fool and be tragic with his campaign ... She will bring herself down, no one will have to go after her ...

The REAL candidates will just try to position themselves to suck her support in ...

24. It depends on how much actual support she gets if/when she runs in the primaries
Just because someone has hype now, or even polls well two years before the election, does not necessarily translate to real votes or real support in a primary - for a number of reasons. Palin is actually going to have to campaign, she's going to have to actually do all the hard work. At the end of August 2008, she hopped on board a campaign that had already been established since the beginning of 2007 for the last 2 months. This time, she has to set up an entire campaign apparatus, do the tiny events, go to those coffee shops and bakeries to shake hands, etc.

We know she doesn't like doing that. For one thing, during her book tour there were many instances of her simply leaving because she got tired, despite the fact that many people who had been waiting for hours, were still on line. She quit the governorship before finishing even one term. She really isn't a hard worker.

But anyway, the Palin supporters you mention -- the fanatic ones -- are probably ones who will NOT vote for anyone but her. Palin might very well have her own "PUMA" contingent just as Hillary did, people who support one candidate and one candidate only. So I don't think any candidate would get their support anyway.

The only reason she's "untouchable" right now is because she isn't running for anything, so they can use her. Once she starts running against other Republicans in a primary, she becomes vulnerable.

25. if she is such a weak candidate ...
and that is my belief, then what good does it do for another candidate to go after her?

No upside to it ...

She will flame out on her own, and all going after her can do is potentially be a negative to another candidate ... Frankly, it is more likely that they will take turns kissing her tail ..

13. You make a great point about Palin and the primary process.
She hasn't had to go through any of it to get where she's at. And I can't help thinking that any criticism directed her way from other R primary candidates would bring out her inner mean girl. Some of the R top tier don't seem to be too fond of her.

12. Sarah's character will just use the PAC money for Personal Pleasures
Based on her past actions i just see this pac thing as a scam so she can just use the money for her play time...unless there is a rule against it. It's just that Sarah just doesnt seem interested in politics or anything except for cutting the middle man out and taking the money and running for the hills....essentially a more efficient republican.

In six months?

Running for what?

That comes to a little over two hundred thousand a month. Obama can raise that amount in about five minutes.

is going to end up not passing their "purity" tests. Besides that she chokes when put on the spot and starts sounding like Ms. teen South Carolina. IMO Palin will mostly raise money for folks she approves of.

21. Oh, she may be "running",
but that doesn't mean she has any intention or desire to "win". By running, she can keep her brand alive. She wants attention and money, but she doesn't doesn't want to serve in government. It would be too much work. I wonder how long she'll last in television. That takes a certain amount of discipline as well and Sarah has the attention span of a fruit fly.

26. She needs to hire more staff
She needs to hire more body guards.
She needs to buy a bullet proof Hummer.
She needs to send out a mailing every month to her loyal followers.
She needs to travel to all the countries in the world. And make sure she speaks with all of their leaders.
She needs to buy a hunting license in all 50 states.
She needs to buy a lifetime membership in the NRA.
She needs to buy lifetime subscriptions to all the hunting magazines.
She needs to buy lifetime memberships in all of the hunting clubs.
She needs to go on a hunting safari in Africa.
She needs to charter an airplane every time she travels.
She needs to visit each state at least 4 times by plane.

How much will all that cost? Hope a lot.

27. She is starting to lose the support of some of her rabid base
because of campaigning with John McCain. See http://theimmoralminority.blogspot.com/2010/02/monday-morning-sarah-palin-news-roundup_01.html

As a co-founder of the 2012 Draft Sarah Committee, I cannot say how distressed I am at Sarah Palin's decision to endorse John McCain for his run for Arizona senator. See the story on American Patrol.

Sarah Palin did not and does not need John McCain. Perhaps, she felt and obligation to Senator McCain for choosing her as VP. But it seems that his choice was more a suggestion of staff and Rush Limbaugh than McCain's idea.

At the CPAC convention in 2008, the 2012 Draft Sarah Committee had a booth promoting her as a presidential candidate. On man came over to me, gave me his card and questioned whether we had the right to promote Sarah without her permission, which any group does. He was from the Republican National Committee and connected with the Sarah PAC. I thought it strange that Sarah would align herself with the RINO’s of RNC, but then passed it off as that it was an effective way for her to raise money using their expertise.

Sarah PAC as of 6/30/09 has raised $732,767 and disbursed $276,200 in expenses and given $10,000 in campaign contributions. One was $5,000 for Lisa Murkowski for US Senate (AK). The other was $5,000 for the 2010 primary for John McCain. The date of this disbursement was 6/23/09.

How many books would Sarah have sold if this was public knowledge in the fall of 2009?

Sarah Palin is now aligned herself with several bad actors. What should this be called, the Rinoization of Sarah Palin? Governor Perry of Texas has always been an open borders advocate. And Bill O'Reilly has always been lukewarm on immigration. Perhaps it is because there are about 18,000 illegal Irish in New York City and they are always advocating for amnesty.

<snip - much more angst at the link>

I am sure she has weakened her base of supporters. I for one am cancelling my monthly contribution to her campaign.

Perhaps, her next book will be titled “Going RINO.”

I think this is hysterically funny. They're finally figuring out what we've known all along.
