44. After my big bear hug, I'd ask him over to my house for an evening of chit chat |
|
I'd make a big pot of coffee, bake a bundt cake, or have cocktails and make him dinner - whatever he wanted.
I'd just let him relax.
Oh, I have plenty to say and ask. But the mother in me would take pity on his soul and just let him be Barack, the man, and not the president who gets hounded by everyone.
Michelle and the kids could come over, too.

During the campaign on a day he looked exhausted I said, "We're behind you."
Now I'd say, "Remember who's behind you and who isn't, and fight for progressive democratic policies."

Mr. President, I'm a teacher, I'm a woman, I'm a liberal, and I'm not happy with you.
There are many things you could do to earn my support, but start with this:
Fire Arne Duncan and appoint a real educator, and a liberal educator at that, as Secretary of Education. Scrap the RTTT, and the push for privatization and union-busting in the form of stimulus bribes and threats, charter schools, and merit pay. Listen to actual educators, and allow us to inform, and improve, your education policies.
Fail to do so, and not only will I not support any of your efforts or vote for you, I will be lobbying my fellow teachers across the nation to remove their support as well.

nice to the republi-CONS and pay more attention to your progressive/liberal base (those who brought you to the dance).
And PLEASE, while you're calling out the opposition on policy issues in public, could you PLEASE say something about the way they mishandle the name of our party? That is also defeating any real dialogue between our two sides.

You know you want some breakfast at Valois, and you'd totally find out what folks are thinking. Some grits and eggs and biscuits ... and the best amalgam of real people (from neighborhood workers and the old guys in their porkpie hats to university professors and students) discussing the politics of the day. And then a little browsing at 57th Street Books. You miss it, you know you do.

35. I'd ask him if someone was threatening him as that would be the |
|
only explanation for his complete flip-flop on Health Care reform and other issues. I'd ask him why he once believed that forcing people to pay for something they cannot afford was wrong, which most democrats agreed with, and why now, he thinks it's okay?
I don't understand the adulation for political figures. They work for us and when you hire someone to do a job, that's what you expect them to do. I am not impressed at all by politicians no matter how handsome or attractive they are. They are not my boyfriend or brother or whatever. I've met many of them through my summer part-time job, and up close, including top Democrats, they are just ordinary people who are not even as impressive as people I know who probably do far more work for people than any politician will ever do unless we make them.
So, meeting Obama or any other politician wouldn't affect me except to ask him face to face why President Obama is so different from Candidate Obama.

Would you and your family please come over for dinner. We''l have some laughs and you can regale us with White House life. We'll tell you quaint stories of fun that doesn't cost us a penny and you can see what it's like on our end? Maybe we can chat about some stuff while playing Rook or Uno or Guesstures...yes Guesstures, that would be fun.
