Chris Matthews said after the SOTU that this is a "post-racial" society.
I don't believe that for a minute, and I'm not even quite sure what that means.

Ideas, thoughts, opinions? I'm not saying he is racist, just that I think this is just a naive statement.

1. I don't think he meant it to be racist but
it was a dumb thing to say.

2. Tweety is an excitable individual.... and when he gets caught up
in the moment he says some remarkably unexpected things. His tongue gets ahead of his brain methinks.

3. I agree. From where he sits, in his everyday experience, he can bask in his "post-racial" society.

But in the unemployment world, in the housing world, in the health care world, in the education world, the impact of racial discrimination is alive and well.

4. I think he spends way too much time in DC, with all those political folks
who tend to believe their own myths. He has really lost touch with reality in many areas, this being one of them.

7. And then immediately followed the "post racial" comment by saying that for an hour
he forgot Obama was black. Which right there would negate the whole "post racial" society premise.

10. For some it is.
I can't say I take note of race nowadays. I think some people are beyond that and some aren't.

11. You don't take note of race? Are you saying you're blind?
You can't not notice what color someone is, you can not treat them differently because of it but to say you don't see it at all is rubbish.

12. If you lived in Hawaii you would understand.
So many different races here you can't tell what half the people are anyway.

13. It's a line from white racists who are tired of talking about racism.
You know, the ones who are always getting upset when people point out what a racist society this is. Obama's president, therefore there isn't any racism anymore because otherwise he wouldn't have run, apparently.

14. "Post-racial society" is a lot like "post-partisan politics."
A fantasy, la-la land, a load of happy horseshit.
