I've been thinking about President Obama's question and answer period before the Republican Retreat. It was a completely novel experience. Unexpected. It knocked me off balance, It knocked the entire Republican smear machine off balance, too. I am left with conflicting emotions - the darker parts I don't care to go into at this time.
However, I think all of us here at DU felt immense relief that some Democrat, somewhere was finally calling out the massive, institutionalized LYING that the GOP has felt free to pursue for a decade now.
Thank you, Mr. President. Why the lies were allowed to flow unimpeded for so long... was completely baffling to me. So much of the division here at DU and among party loyalists has never been the result of "Ultra-leftists" or "Ideological Purists" throwing bombs as it was individual Democrats confused to the point of sheer, screaming rage by the complete and utter refusal of our party to simply fight back - no! simply to even mention the egregious lies upon which the Republican party's base is increasingly built. Bald-faced, laughable lies as fragile as balloons that only floated because no Democrat in D.C. would simply stick a pin in them!
Why not!?!? Theories abound but I guess we'll never know for sure.
For popping a few of these huge Republican dis-information blimps, we owe our President immense thanks.
Now, Democrats everywhere: Lather, rinse, repeat.

2. Now, if the MSM pundits would only question their GOP guests |
|
the way the GOP questioned the President, maybe more citizens would understand the issues better and what the GOP really stands for. Gregory was a big disappointment when interviewing his guest today. So, the GOP presented Obama with a thick book of "ideas." Ok. Let the rest of us see the book. How about the having the person who brings up that book tell the rest of us what is in it? I bet 10:1 that the GOP touting that book have not read it just as they, obviously, had not read the HCR bill as the President pointed out. If one of them would go so far as to say what is in the book, they must be able to show how it is significantly different from what has already been put forward. AND NO ONE IS HOLDING THOSE WHO VOTED AGAINST "PAY AS YOU GO" ACCOUNTABLE. I didn't hear it mentioned today at all on the TV shows. Did I miss it?

My thoughts today too. How about a televised interview with Bonher with question about the "Republican Bill" by Democratic Reps.

4. He demonstrated leadership and showed how vulnerable they are |

When you tell someone they know something isn't true and they offer no reply, none at all, then it's obvious they live in a house of cards.
