Someone Needs to Tell Obama He's............Black |
|
There is a basic fundamental of politics that I swear neither Obama nor his advisers can figure out. The Repukes have gotten elected for decades by using racist (wink, wink) politics. Therefore, they cannot ever, ever, ever vote for anything he wants because that would recognize his very being and reveal to their supporters that they are not in earnest about their hatred of Blacks....and then, poof, their goes their base. Obama can't court these people unless he can change the color of his skin because their very being rests on RACISM. He hasn't figured that out for a year now. For God's sake, get a clue and stop even letting them in the front door of the White House!!! Obama's dog has more honor than these hissing snakes.

1. I think racism is a huge factor, whether they admit it to themselves |

or not.
I'm sure Obama has dealt with more than a lot of racism during his life, but there's a difference between the caliber of people at Harvard and those Republican voters to whom race matters. They're AFRAID of what a black man will do to the whites. Many people were interviewed saying just that during the primaries.
It was my hope that once he got into office they'd get to know him for the person he is, but the Republican Party is making sure that doesn't happen.
This is an historic time in our history, and I think Obama, and we, will prevail. :patriot:
Edit to add, maybe that's why Obama HAS been so accommodating to the Republicans thus far, so they can't use that as another weapon. He's really between a rock and a hard place. But again, I'm so grateful we're at this point in our country's history, and have faith that Obama will is more than capable of carrying this off.

Obama just can't get it through his head that even if he puts forth a "Republican" bill they HAVE to vote against it because the foundation of their very being is to cater to racism. If they didn't have that, the people may actually think, dislike the Repuke love fest with rich people, and realize they are being screwed. This just say "NO" is in reality saying "NO is just another word that starts with an 'N'" (wink, wink....do you get my meaning)!

4. I get what you're saying and I'm in agreement to a point. |
|
If, at the outset, he just said 'screw it', then can you imagine the racial outcry that would have resulted? It wouldn't have been all "this black man thinking he can push whitey around". Even though I hadn't considered that type of backlash, I'm sure Obama did, and he circumvented it by being patient and repeated attempts to offer that olive branch.
But I agree that now, enough! And I think he's come to that decision, too. He knows far better than we what he's up against, so although he may still have to say he's seeking a bipartisan resolution -- lip service, I'm feeling he'll be more inclined to just go ahead regardless. I'm hoping that's where he's at.

3. I think the fact we have a black President is a huge problem. |
|
These people HATE black people. And Mexican people. And gay people. And the men hate the women.
If you aren't white and just like them, they hate you. They fear those who aren't just like them because they don't have the capacity to understand anyone else. Their hatred feeds their fear that somehow everything is going to be taken away from them if others are allowed to prosper.
I knew we had a problem when the two leading Democratic candidates included a black man and a woman.
There will be no bipartisanship from the right, because to do so would go against everything they have feared and hated their whole lives. And because being a bigot is not as acceptable today as it used to be, they have to find other excuses for their actions. That's why things just don't add up.
I don't pretend to be an expert on the situation, but I think the OP sums it up pretty well.
Racism is very much alive and well today. One look at the tea baggers proves it. It's disgusting, wrong, and a danger to America.

5. I don't think it's a huge problem, hell, look at how many people |
|
voted for him! Rather, I'd say it's problematic because of those very people you cite. And Tancredo's statement at the Tea Party! :scared: He didn't even have to pretend he wasn't a bigot!
Obama's been dealing with this all his life, and the more I see of him, the more I have faith in the approach he's taking.
I just have a feeling that he'll prevail, and we'll be a better country because of it.

black folks didn't come up with the one drop rule. If the Tea Party folks and Republicans consider him half white what's with all the pics of; watermelon patches in front of the White House, his face on KFC buckets, and photoshopping pimp costumes onto him. Answer, many of them are racists who hate seeing a black man in the White House who also happens to be for economic and social justice.
I do think our country is moving in the right direction. These fools seem more numerous than they actually are due to overexposure. They're a dying breed.
Fvck the Tea Party and Republicans.
