This is why Congress polls so badly. Our system is broken and our Congress members held hostage to the special interests who fill their campaign coffers.

The people's business just does not get done. Healthcare reform being exhibit #1.

1. People don't want "bipartisanship." They want jobs and affordable health care.
The Dems seem to be laboring under some weird delusion that if they told the GOP to fuck off and delivered people actual economic stimulus and HCR, that Joe Sixpack would be upset that they weren't bi-partisan enough.

2. Indeed!
Thanks for pointing out my mistake in typing 'partisanship' when I meant the reverse--which I have now corrected.

3. I fear that sometimes Obama/the Dems are pursuing bipartisanship
as an end rather than a mean. And what good is it if public policy and the ability to govern is hampered? Makes no sense!

5. We are screwed if the dems don't have any positive, high profile legislation passed by Fall
Yes, there has been some good done, but we really need to have HC reform passed so the Dems in congress will get recognition for something other than TARP.

6. Yes, totally screwed. Voters want results, Democrats. Ignore that at your peril.
