If that doesn't motivate you to want to keep Dems in control, then I give up.

Edit to add - I KNOW things have been disappointing BUT if you think what we have now is bad...just think how things could be with Boner and McConnell in charge. Thanks - but NO THANKS! I'll take major disappointment over pure hell.

12. What is it about republicans
and their House leaders? Boehner looks like the phony, crooked politician in a movie, a caricature of a slick politician, except he comes across as really stupid. Could be the booze I suppose, as he often appears inebriated. And he was preceded by friggin' Tom Delay??? How gullible are republicans?

Brings to mind what we used to say about Nixon, "Would you buy a used car from this guy?" It is really scary that people actually vote for these people.

15. On Boehner. He is one of those privileged Congresscritters in southwest
Ohio. Mean Jean Schmidt is another.

I don't want people like this running anything. I don't want them in charge. I don't want them running the House of Representatives, or even a subcommittee on postage stamp themes.

For me it's not really an either / or argument, but an outright rejection of the mentality someone like John Boehner brings to public service.

And as God is my witness his skin really is orange.

17. One of the most frightening things that can happen...
is that someone who thinks they are intelligent gets into a position of power when there is nothing to back up the case for intellect. Boehner is indeed a fool, and proves it every time he opens his mouth.

As fort R's gaining the House, I can't see that happening, there is no precursor for a sweeping change in Congress. People are angry at Congresscritters other than their own, it's always like that. Boehner and the other clods of the GOP are smoking some good stuff if they think the House will turn R in the midterm; some gains are possible, but I actually think there may be losses for the GOP...they are seen as little more than obstructionists...:hi:

20. Let's see, we would be conducting two illegal, immoral wars,
Education would come under assault as lawmakers gut our public education system in favor of a private one. We would hand over a mandated monopoly to the insurance industry. We would continue to live under a police state with a renewed Patriot Act. The LGBT community would be on the outside looking in.

Oh, wait, those things are happening with Pelosi sitting behind the President at the SOTU.

That dime's worth of difference has shrunk to about two cents, if not less.

Perhaps it is time for real change in this country, not the faux change we have now.

Edited on Mon Mar-01-10 09:45 AM by salguine
motivate me thus would be an actual health care system that means something, closing Gitmo, repealing DADT, rescinding the Bush administration's criminal abuses instead of codifying them into law...the list goes on and on. They have been moving in precisely the wrong direction on every issue. The way things are going, seeing idiot Boehner's face sitting behind the President won't really make any difference to me.

Obama's actions on virtually everything have been a complete betrayal of everything I stand for, and too many people fawn and gush over his beautiful speeches, as if he doesn't habitually say one thing and do the opposite. I don't tune in to hear him speak any more because frankly I can no longer stand the sight of him any more than Boehner.

And frankly, the old "Just think how much worse it would be with (insert Republican of your choice here)" doesn't hold water any more. It really needs to be taken out behind the barn and shot.

And as we've all seen lately, this new crop of GOP idiots are even worse than during the Bush regime.

Can you imagine a Senate full of Bunnings, McConnells and Inhofes? It would be a return to the Dark Ages, only with less compassion.
