As I said in the other thread about this. A good article would have listed the provisions of the act that were in force before the recent actions and how this latest bill/act changed that. Unless and until that analysis is done, neither praising nor attacking Obama and/or the Democrats is appropriate. We just dont know what has happened yet.

1. Unreccers are, I guess, upset I preempted (at least temporarily) their latest reason to attack
Obama? I would hope that what I wrote is pretty self-evident.

2. Here:
Three sections of the Patriot Act that stay in force will:

_Authorize court-approved roving wiretaps that permit surveillance on multiple phones.

_Allow court-approved seizure of records and property in anti-terrorism operations.

_Permit surveillance against a so-called lone wolf, a non-U.S. citizen engaged in terrorism who may not be part of a recognized terrorist group.

I doubt it's much different than anything that was done in America, well, forever.

3. Yes, I know, I saw that part. and which parts are out?
Thats the problem with AP's coverage. It's pretty clear that some provisions of the Patriot Act are no longer in force, but we dont know which those are. What is the difference between the way things were before and the way they are now?

5. Many provisions were made permanent last couple of years.
Nothing was allowed to expire. Obama extended these provisions that were set to expire this year.

6. The fact that anything to do with the Patriot Act is being kept in force is a travesty
Just because it is Dems controlling the strings doesn't make it any better.

8. I do not accept that. There are definitely horrific things in the original USA Patriot Act, but...
what I see continued thus far is not among them.
