As Momentum For Reform Builds, Republicans Resurrect Campaign To Repeal Legislation

Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) appeared on Fox News today to warn Democrats that if they manage to pass a health care bill, “we’ll spend the rest of the year in the campaign to try to repeal it.” Saying he has “never seen” an electoral effort to repeal unpopular legislation, Alexander argued that “the American people don’t want the bill’:

ALEXANDER: If the Democrats push this through, an unpopular health care bill, at a time when the real issues are jobs, terrorism, and debt, the health care bill is going to define every Democratic candidate for every public office in November and Republicans are going to try to elect a majority who’ll come in here and try to provide a check and a balance to more taxes and more spending.
Watch it:

<...>

Republicans know health care reform is going to pass without them.

1. Yep. They've gone to full-panic mode.
Or, as the Rude Pundit put it:

2/24/2010
GOP Crapping Their Pants Over Reconciliation:
They're shitting themselves at the prospect. You can tell by their words, their sweaty brows, their quavering voices, their huffy outrage, all masking that they are shitting themselves. Ask any news person who has interviewed a GOP senator in the last few days. All of the Republicans reek of shit. And it would do no good to change their panties because at the sound of the word "reconciliation," they just shit themselves again. The word itself is one they have used on many occasions to push through legislation in avoidance of the beaten-to-death filibuster. But now it is being used against them, which means that all the screaming in the world will amount to nothing more than dissipated noise in a vacuum.
(snip)
You know you've got your opponent cornered when he starts saying that the rules of the game are rigged against him. The question is whether or not the other players are willing to stick to the rules as they stand.

2. Republicans feel good about their prospects.
The HC bill likely will not pass. If it does, they can likely unravel it. Rude Pundit is dreaming. This isn't close to a sure thing. He's just working on his ratings.

3. They also think Obama's a Socialist.
Just 'cause they think something doesn't make it true.

4. LOL!!! Wishful Thinking On Your Part
HCR will pass and there's no way in hell Repubs can "unravel" even if they win both houses of Congress. Obama would veto it. They would have to win both houses of Congress, hold on to them until 2012 THEN beat Obama, THEN try to "unravel" it, effectively taking health care AWAY from TENS OF MILLIONS OF CONSTITUENTS.

They only person dreaming is you.
