Somebody better sit Charlie Rangel down and tell him its over.
Edited on Tue Mar-02-10 05:04 PM by Perky
The GOP is going to introduce a resolution this week calling for his ouster. They only need need 40 vulnerable Dems to join them....It is kind of hard for him to say no if he is a good dem.

If he doesn't step down or Pelosi does not call for him to step aside, He is going to be the Poster boy for what is "wrong" with Washington And Pelosi is going to be accused of crony-ism rather than "draining the swamp".

Nothing good can come from this Charlie. You're done. Even if you get cleared by the Ethics committeee of what is till pending.... you are done.

30. Served in a segregated platoon
Imagine that. Volunteered to serve in a military that kept different races separated. Sorry to see this happen to him but he's got to go for the good of the party.

than they are some weak sacks of shit.

Going with the Repukes to oust him hurts the Democrats more than sticking behind him.

He is in a safe district and if the Rs ran anyone against him it would just be a sacrificial lamb.

18. You don't understand politics in NYC if you say that. HE WILL NEVER LOSE.
No matter how much dirt you want to dish about him, he will not be ousted in the coming elections. I know. They've put a lot of information out there on him and it doesn't matter. People will always vote for him. He owns Harlem, he knows it and all of us who live in Harlem knows it. The only way he would be out is if he died (knock on wood) or he retires. Those are the only two ways.

12. Only one of six who were sanctioned ...
Edited on Tue Mar-02-10 05:31 PM by MerryBlooms
I'm wondering who the other five are and why they're off the hook. Anyone know?

<snip>

Rangel was the only one of six lawmakes sanctioned for participating in the trips, which were sponsored by the Carib News Foundation.

24. Doesn't wash with me
If six were on merry making trips, then six should equally be held accountable.

This whole thing doesn't smell quite right ... I live with a bunny, cat and a doxie, I know stink ... this whole 'outrage' has some serious stank.

Not even so much him but all the people working in his office. Bastards, the lot of them. Ugh. In any event, he's been needing to retire.

26. That doesn't mean we should support him if he has ethical lapses that do a dsserivice to
to his party, His stict his country.

Look I am not trying to convict hime without a trial... I just do not think a full throated support og him is possible until aft the Ethics Committes wraps things up and in the meantime his continued tenure as chair is going to be useful only to the GOP.

The situation is untenable.

27. I think piling on a good Dem is playing into Republican hands.
The Ethics Committee and the law can handle all that without me bad mouthing Rangle. Wish we had more Dems with the voting record he has. I am looking at our Dems from the point of how they do the job they got elected to do. The other stuff is not up to me.

Give me a Republican and I'll bad mouth them all day. They have never represented anyone but themselves. I'd have no problem helping to destroy them.
