First spark of a jobs recovery
http://money.cnn.com/2010/03/03/smallbusiness/small_business_jobs/index.htm?source=cnn_bin&hpt=Sbin

According to ADP (ADP, Fortune 500), small businesses -- those with less than 50 workers -- were hit hardest last month. Medium-sized businesses, with 50 to 500 employees, added 8,000 net new positions to their ranks.

Joel Prakken, chairman of ADP researcher Macroeconomic Advisers, sees a turnaround on the horizon.

"If the recent trend continues, and given first-quarter GDP growth of 5.9%, private employment could rise next month for the first time in two years," he said.

Itty-bitty businesses rebound: A separate employment survey released earlier in the week concluded that the nation's tiniest businesses are already adding workers.

3. The economy certainly seems to be headed in the right direction
and this is a huge improvement over where things were just a year ago.

18. Some times I wonder if people memories are that short
or they choose to ignore the astounding turn around because it doesn't fit their agenda.

7. That may be.. but it does not diminish the fact that small businesses are starting to hire
60 to 70% of all new jobs are created within the small buisness model..

Small business, new buisness, innovations that will push the country forward.. this is really where you want to see growth start..

The cycle of up and down will continue...but we are moving forward none the less.

10. I agree.
... just sayin' wear your protective head gear tomorrow as there may be a roaming band of naysayers ready to point out that the President has brought us to the brink of economic ruin. ;)

11. I know that...they are jumping on board already...
;).. but the real worry that I have, is the state workers who are going to get laid off.. I think we are going to see some stiff cuts in state workers..so I am happy to see growth anywhere it happens.. and celebrate the heck out it :)

12. Okay.. tell me what you would have done differently to save jobs?
How would you have turned it around from the grossing bleeding we were doing this time last year.

13. A major out-placement firm here in the SF bay area sees it too...
Challenger, Gray & Christmas said yesterday in an interview w/ KGO radio that they see hiring picking up, and we may see a turnaround by 2nd quarter 2010.

14. The February jobs numbers come out tomorrow.
I suspect they will be rather grim but most of that will be due to the weather messing up things on the east coast. I predict this month (March) will represent the big bounceback ... when the Obama recovery (in terms of jobs) starts to take hold in a big way. Of course, the 6% GDP growth already shows the economy is headed in the right direction overall.

16. When you clean out an infected wound it is a pretty grim looking thing
But it is that new healthy tissue growth underneath that lets you know if the patient is going to survive. Seeing small buisness grow and hire is that healthy tissue.. but I agree numbers could be grim.. wait and see..

I think when the states start cutting state workers it will be pretty grim also.. May need to tap into the rest of those stimululs dollars to keep those afloat till the rest of the economy rebounds more..:hi:
