Grayson Leading In REPUBLICAN Primary

Grayson Leading In REPUBLICAN Primary
First Posted: 03- 4-10 02:51 PM

Republicans like a politician who stands up for what he believes -- even if he believes the Republican Party is populated by a bunch of "knuckle-dragging Neanderthals."

The candidate leading the Florida GOP primary to determine who will take on Rep. Alan Grayson, the Democrat who represents the Orlando-based district, is none other than Grayson himself, according to a poll paid for by his campaign. Grayson is a freshman congressman who has drawn scorn from the GOP and has quickly built a nationwide following of progressives.

The poll has Grayson leading the 13 Republicans -- among Republicans -- with 27.8 percent of the vote. The congressman who mocked the GOP health care plan by saying that it amounts to telling people not to get sick and if they do, to die quickly, received more support than all of the Republican candidates combined.

No GOP candidate scored above 3.7 percent; 57.7 percent said they were undecided. Grayson did particularly well with women, undercutting the notion that referring to a Washington lobbyist as a "K Street whore" would turn female voters away. (Grayson later apologized for the word choice.)

9. Voters are tired of being lied to and...
they trust someone that sticks to his or her core values, even if one disagrees with the politics.

3. LOL..I love Grayson -- What makes him difficult to beat is he FIGHTS!
The problem with most democrats is they seem so afraid to attack republicans with the truth but Grayson (and Weiner) will come out fighting tooth and nail and say precisely why the republicans are horrible...and he uses republican styles. I mean how do you not listen to the line "If you get sick then die quickly"....You can't beat that catch line against republicans.

The guy will have no problems getting funding across the country and have no problems debating nor winning his election.

It is a shame most democrats dont understand, or dont want to be more on the attack because it is those dems that do that always win their elections.

People respond to honesty -- not phony lies that attempt to cover up big corporate thievery.

6. Wait...so standing up unapologetically for liberal ideas wins you votes?!
You mean we don't have to capitulate to the right center and the "pragmatists" have been wrong all along?

Huh.

23. Yeah, imagine that.
What I have been shouting is that the country did not vote for a Democratic Party majority in 2006 and 2008 because they wanted the country to move right.

So this whole notion of the country is center right is a fucking lie. Just more slime oozing out from your TV set.

Alan Grayson (D) vs. Alan Grayson (R)

It won't matter if FOX News puts an "D" or "R" after his name. They'll be right either way!

14. Well this pretty much kills the perennial DLC argument, doesn't it?
You know..... the standard bullshit about how REAL Democrats can't possibly win in "conservative" areas, and how you have to pander to the 'Pukes to keep the seat?

Grayson does exactly the opposite - acts like a REAL Democrat, calls the idiots out on their bullshit, and even the Republicans vote for him.

Now take this goddamn lesson and run REAL Democrats for every office in every state, and pull the plug on this corporatist fairy tale called "centrism" once and for all!

is maintained by the DLC. I'm sure those propping up the facade are being handsomely rewarded.

18. I'm happy about this, but...
I will never approve of states that let other parties vote in their primary. Only registered Republicans should vote in the Republican primary, just like only registered Democrats should vote in our primaries. That's why I love NY. :)

20. And of course males also can be 'whores.' Witness for example
Lamar Alexander, John Cornyn, Jim DeMint, Jon Kyl, and so forth.

Grayson is refreshing because he's both tough and smart, not just one or the other, and he can butt-kick with the best of them in his hard liberal boots.

I hope he inspires worthy imitators in many Congressional districts all over the place.

29. And those asshats have been lagging the demographics as the oldsters die off.
Aging populations tend to vote more conservative, it's why we're in the mess we're in.

The people in charge of things are of that aging dempgraphic, and are consistently failing to look ten, twenty years down the road.

They don't want to, as they see aging, loss of power, and ultimately their own death in that direction.

You watch as the rate of change and mainstream political balance will be accelerating away from gray-haired white Teabaggers that hate everything.

I have hope for the future.
