President Obama presses fellow Dems: Seize moment on health
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100304/ap_on_bi_ge/us_health_care_overhaul_100

Support from his own party in doubt, President Barack Obama summoned more than a dozen House Democrats to the White House Thursday, pleading with them to put aside their qualms, seize a historic moment and vote for his massive health care overhaul.

It's the opportunity of a generation, he told them — and a chance to revive the party's agenda after his rough first year in office.

In back-to-back meetings in the Oval Office and Roosevelt Room, Obama urged uneasy rank-and-file moderates and progressives to focus on the positives rather than their deep disappointment with parts of the bill. The lawmakers said Obama assured them the legislation was merely the first step, and he promised to work with them in the future to improve its provisions.

"The president very pointedly talked about how important this is historically," said Rep. Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz., "how he needs our help." Obama told them that "this is an opportunity, it'll give us momentum'" on other issues," the congressman said.

You know what he should have done and when?

That makes you really, really smart and insightful and shit!

But in actuality, we were too busy arguing among ourselves about single payer
and shit this summer.....remember?

So, yes, I am "insightful and shit."

Got the degrees and experience in Washington, Toronto and Moscow to prove it.

He let Congress run with it when he should have taken charge. Had secret meetings with AHIP and PhRMA.

How do we know what you are not doing.....?
what we know is that you ain't following the Democrat in the WH,
but that doesn't mean there aren't following some Kool Kids out there.
At DU being popular means being against this President.
Perhaps you want to be popular. Who knows?

held meetings with members of Congress and then given a speech before the full House and Senate. Oh wait...

The bills survived multiple votes in both the House and Senate (three votes each resulting in 60 Senators voting yes). Yet the way some people are talking one would get the impression that the bills aren't in conference, that nothing has changed since last March.

Contrary to Republican spin, the House and Senate passed separate bills to arrive at this point.
