3. Oh, you haven't heard? Obama sucks. DUers say it so it has to be true.

All I see is bitch, bitch, bitch about Obama whenever I come to DU.

One would imagine that some on this board were either in a coma for the previous 8 years or have some kind of amnesia.

I for one take the bad okay with the good and realize that the president has some tough hurdles ahead of him; some of which are the constant road blocks that the current GOPiggies like to put in front of him.

14. God, ain't that the truth.
It amazes me how little patience so many people here at DU have. The guy's been in office for a year and already they're saying he's a failure. Why? Because he didn't manage to turn an entire, entrenched political system on its head in fourteen months?

Okay, let's say it's true. Let's say he IS a failure. Then who woud be better? Hilary? Would she have turned everything around and cured all of your ills by now? How about Edwards? Or Kucinitch (whom I originally supported)?

I doubt ANY of them could go up against the Washington political machine, the country's corporate machine, and Wall Streets money machine, and do what needs to be done in that amount of time. And I'd bank that, once in office, they would have made many of the same unpopular decisions Obama has. Because the reality is this: there are things that have to be done, decisions that have to be weighed and made, that we cannot even fathom unless we ourselves walk in those shoes. Anyone who thinks any President has a magic wand is an idiot. Plain and simple.

Change takes time. And I DO see it coming. Slowly. As it always does.

So get THE FUCK OVER IT, and let's work WITH this President -- DESPITE his flaws -- rather than against him. Because the alternative just ain't very pretty.

22. I originally supported Kuch as well.

On edit: If I counter an argument with either factual information or a general rebuttal of opinion, without barb or personal insult, more often than not I will watch as somebody either files off the handle or tries to get into a pissing contest just for the pleasure of it.

Now I am used to much worse behavior on other message boards (I've given up on Craigslist), but there seems to always be this simmering anger if an OP isn't taken for gospel or a poster is called to defend their opinion.

If somebody posts a fact I may not like it, but I don't flame on it.

17. That's because most reasonable people don't bother to post anymore. But just look
how many Rec's that Tom Hanks thread got (Which is probably half than what it had if the purity-army wouldn't run to unrec), and you'll see what the silent majority thinks.

The normal ones anyways.

Then some folks like to come into threads,

8. I enjoy these threads.
It's better than reading the loads of deep cynicism along with negativism posted here about our President. One can enjoy photos AND be able to enjoy reading substantive stuff as well. I have to limit DU these days because it's been taken over by so many negative, gloomy people who like to rip on anyone who, god forbid, enjoys a little color in their lives instead of seeing everything as being black or white.

7. the times, they are a-changing!
Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

33. It was kind of weird...
I thought, must be a newbie troll slipped in -- then checked the profile, only to see that said poster had been here for years and years and years with barely 20 posts to its name. Searched recent history, and found all the posts were similar to this piece of spew. So I alerted.

A few weeks back someone here wrote a rather intelligent analysis of the phenomenon of trolls who either burrowed in years ago with several identities and just bided their time, or trolls who managed to simply return again and again, some of them easily recognized by their inimitable style.

Amazing. I simply don't understand the mindset of anyone who could spend their time and karma that way.

:wtf: indeed.
