Wow! Massa accuses WH of engineering his ethics probe and investigation!
Effectively forcing him to resign because he was going to vote NO on health care reform.

“I was set up for this from the very, very beginning,” he said onWKPQ 105.3 FM in New York. “You think that somehow they didn’t come after me to get rid of me because my vote is the deciding vote in the health care bill? Then, ladies and gentlemen, you live today in a world that is so innocent as to not understand what’s going on in Washington, D.C.”

If this is true, well done Obama!

3. Why would Massa resign if he has nothing to resign about......
and why did he say it was his ill health as his original reason to resign if it wasn't?

7. So true, if he did nothing then why resign?
He's protesting way too much, something says he's up to no good.

11. They're all dirty.
Massa didn't want to cooperate so they went after him and make an example of him. Hardball politics if it's true. Obama's breaking kneecaps!

at the ones who scatter when the lights come on. Besides there is no proof that he was forced out.

14. Very gullible
The fact is that if this was true, why not defy Obama et al and stay in the Congressional seat. There was not yet a scheduled ethics committee hearing and they never are that speedy. Stay in and vote "no".

A more likely scenario is that his staffers spoke to others - and gossip always travels fast - and it is eventually heard by the reporters and mentioned when he opted not to retire.

I saw a segment of the atrocious Beck show - and Beck is completely using him today. What I saw was a few minutes of Beck rant, followed by a short (1 paragraph usually Massa) comment from the radio etc. The "dirty" part he exposed was the union people saying they will not contribute to campaigns that vote against health care. This is not like trading an earmark for a contribution.

25. Seriously, if Obama was using Rahm to purge all the Democrats
who opposed him, the entire Blue Dog caucus would have been out on their asses.

Or they'd all have dead mackerel in their mailboxes.

I doubt if I was looking to hide something, my instincts would tell me to punch the Chief of Staff in the face.

Seems like something you do when you don't give a fuck.

5. How many more nutz are going to come
out of the woodwork on this Health Care Reform.

Eric Massa was on the local news on the Albany station..taking responsibility for his actions with "salty language" that he used to an aide.

And, now he's gone on to accusing the White House of engineering the accusation against him?

Guess the aide needs to come out and call him on his bullshit.

8. I think there is more to this than on the surface.
Things like this have happened before in our party, so I am reserving judgment. I know good people who campaigned for Massa, two of them Dean and Clark. I trust their judgment very much.

I think we need to allow things to take their course on this.

It would give me some comfort if he had it in him to be this ruthless. Is it wrong to think that way?

Wes Clark supported him also.

I think we should reserve judgment.

The party has been known to do this to fellow Democrats.

17. Rahm
"Rahm Emanuel is son of the devil's spawn... He is an individual who would sell his mother to get a vote. He would strap his children to the front end of a steam locomotive."

-- Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY), in a radio interview, on the White House chief of staff.

"I'm naked as a jay bird, and here comes Rahm Emanuel, not even with a towel wrapped around his tush, poking his finger in my chest, yelling at me because I wasn't going to vote for the president's budget. Do you know how awkward it is to have a political argument with a naked man?"

-- Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY), quoted by Roll Call, about an encounter with the White House chief of staff in the House gym.

26. You all realize you are probably mocking a guy who is probably dying
I mean, really...you understand he had pretty bad cancer 10 years ago, enough to require a year of treatment and it has come back. Generally, that means not good things.

Also, does anyone think if this guy had anything to hide, he'd be picking a fight with the Chief of Staff? Really, I'm sure that is the way to keep something quiet.

He poked Rahm on the way out because, well Rahm was probably an asshole to him.

If someone is acting a bit odd as Massa has, I think we can be allowed to question him just a bit.

You find out your going to die on Monday, and an ethics complaint comes out on Tuesday.

I wouldn't give a fuck either, as for the episode in the shower with Rahm...sounds like something Rahm would do, and be proud of quite frankly.

33. I cannot stand Rahm
However, Massa is leaving because either he has cancer, said inappropriate things to a staffer, or because Rahm rubbed him the wrong way. Which is it? Is it all of the above? And going on Glenn Beck helps him how? Just plain strange.

34. Exactly what I said
My dad was asking girls out on the street to date his son, trying to convince me and my best friend to start a bar fight with him, telling some really strange stories about Vietnam, and asking his tea totalling sister to have scotch with him the week he found out.

Nothing he did makes sense for a man who thinks he's going to be walking the earth in a year.

You tell me I'm going to die in 3 months, I'd do some fun things to.

Honestly, Rahm was probably irate that story hit the airwaves for 15 minutes than laughing, I did yell at that SOB buck naked.

Probably bragging about the spawn of the devil line as well to his brothers.
