Obama completely turned the health care fight around |
|
• Barack Obama's effort to breathe new life into the health care reform debate by hosting a bipartisan summit of Congressional leaders last week may have been modestly successful. There is a small margin of support for the health care reform proposals put forth by the Obama Administration, with 53% supporting them and 47% opposing.http://www.economist.com/blogs/democracyinamerica/2010/03/americas_views_health-care_reform_and_car_companies

If he's such a brilliant politician, would he let things go to the brink of ruin just so he can be the knight in shining armor? Would he jettison or have his surrogates jettison most of what's imperative about health care reform and duck specifics as the clock ticks away if he was the personification of political megagenius?
I somewhat presume you're being a bit facetious, but I really don't know.
This savior posturing is getting old, and in this case, it will be a pyrrhic victory at best, regardless of how it's sold to the public.
Brilliance in politics is measured by getting one's way. If "his way" is defined by some version of a bill that can be waved around as a triumph, then I guess so, but if it is defined as real and effective change, then this and the stimulus bill are both embarrassments.
Regardless, we need to pass the damned thing right now and get on with it.

That's what many people said about the Invasion of Iraq and the Banksters' bailout.
With that track record ... what possibly could go wrong? :nuke:
