Greg Sargent's Plumline: Huge Majority of MoveOn Members Supports Passing Senate Bill
Here’s a pretty clear indication that the left, whatever its disappointment with the Senate health bill, still overwhelmingly sees passing it as by far the best course of action.

As I noted here yesterday, MoveOn polled its members to ask whether the organization should support or oppose passing the Senate bill. Check out these results, sent over by a MoveOn official:

Should MoveOn support or oppose the final health care bill if it looks like the plan recently proposed by President Obama?

Support 83
Oppose 17

Not terribly surprising, perhaps, but MoveOn’s membership is comprised of pretty hard-core liberal activists, and this shows pretty clearly that among this crowd, the kill-the-bill camp overwhelmingly lost the argument.

1. I wonder what a current poll on DU would show.

The last poll I saw here was showing a majority favoring it.

7. Maybe the loudest folks are getting the most attention.
I am smart enough to get it --I've been around the message board block. I worry about new members here at DU who might not. I think same may be scared away. Sometimes this place doesn't look like a democratic website. It looks like a wrestling match.

I see many many people who are trying to be reasonable being shouted down or accused of being DLC.

I was one of them.

I understand frustrations, but, well -- just *but*. I will leave it at that.

9. I totally get what you are saying.
The accusations are the most frustrating to me because that simply stops legitimate debate.

4. That's the way I voted. But it is a risk.
It would take incredible trust that the 'fixes' would make it through via reconciliation.

Still, it seems the optimal way to move forward currently.

6. That's a massive majority for a group than many on DU align themselves with

I think we have a very skewed group here when it comes to 'representing the left'. I've yet to see any poll that aligns with the views of the majority 'out there' here on DU.

For reference, there was a poll yesterday on whether we should pass the same exact bill MoveOn asked about - Senate with fixes:

Houston, we have a problem...
