Countering an anti-Obama FB group...
http://www.facebook.com/pages/OBAMA-One-Bad-Ass-MothA/391901986354

You don't have to join. If you do, great. If not, that's fine. I know a lot of people don't like Obama here and even more don't like FB. But I tire of the anti-Obama groups that have no merit whatsoever (like calling Pres. Obama one big ass mistake, America).

This is more a positive forum to counter that cesspool of negativity.

All in good fun, too!

1. Good Luck...I love Obama
but don't do facebook. Is that you in pic? So there's nothing we can do if we don't join?

3. I don't know if there is anything you can do.
You're probably better off not delving into the political wars on FB. I've come across a lot of mindless idiots. I mean, people who just throw out trash talking points like Obama is going to take our freedom or that he's a secret NWO Muslim hell-bent on destroying America.

No rationalizing that!

2. I wish I could
But he's not as bad a "MothA" as I'd hoped. But I wish him only the best.

7. Can you shave 40 years off your age?
I'm led to believe that the "face book" comes naturally to the younger set.

;)

8. Cool.
Looking at a lot of the pictures on that anti-Obama page on Facebook (the "One Big Ass Mistake, America" one) makes me feel totally hopeless for this country. It's depressing how much tolerance Americans still seem to have for racism...

10. The Anti-Obama page has 740,953 fans
I was surprised to see that. I really don't think there is much you can do about it. I do Facebook, but I don't get into politics on it, because I have friends with too many differing political opinions and we are there to share, have fun and not argue. And let's face it, the only time "fans" count, is when it comes time to vote. Thats the real test, not some Facebook page. Best to ignore that group.

11. To be fair, Pres. Obama's fan page has almost 8 million.
And a good number of those on the anti-Obama page are actually fighting with those idiots.

But yes, it's best to ignore. I won't join. I just get disheartened by the whole process. How can anyone think he's a big mistake?

I can say thinking he's not liberal enough or good enough. But a mistake? As opposed to McCain?

Even sane Republicans will concede McCain would've been a disaster.

12. Don't get disheartened
Looking over their page, I get the feeling some of those "people" are really wacked! The comments & the pictures ..really viscious. I don't agree with Obama all the time either, but there is no excuse for some of those hateful remarks and photos..they aren't about policies they don't like , its personal. And it's ugly.

But what can you do? I don't know how you can even argue with people who don't seem reasonable. And I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find out these were same kind of people who think bush was "great". No kidding...I once knew a guy who insisted bush was a "hero jet pilot". I use to tell him bush was no such thing...he was no hero, and in fact he had been grounded. And he'd look me straight in the face and go "Didn't you see him land that jet on that aircraft carrier? Only an experienced pilot could do that!" Whatever!

My dad who served in Vietnam use to say bush protected us at "home" in Texas from Vietcong armadillos. Now that's more like it!

Anyways, people are people, how they get some ideas, I will never know. So don't let it upset you.

Have a Happy St Patrick's Day!

14. How many of those are really "fans"?
I'm willing to bet a bunch are people who joined in to do battle with the naysayers. You can't comment there unless you are a "fan".
