Who best matches your thinking? |
|
Edited on Fri Mar-12-10 09:33 AM by Kurt_and_Hunter
Of pundits, authors, politicians, comedians, etc...
Who do you most consistently agree with?
Paul Krugman usually agrees with me and visa-versa. He hasn't convinced me of much over the years. He just does a good job of refining and explaining ideas with which I already agreed. Sympatico.
But Krugman is often cited as a 'sometimes' guy... for instance, he is very critical of Obama economic policy but supportive of the Healthcare bill.
But he is coming from a consistent world-view, and I can generally guess where Krugman will be on an issue because we seem to have similar assumptions about the world, priorities, etc..
I could say the same about the ACLU. They are a 'sometimes' outfit in that they seem to support issues from both sides, but they represent a consistent world-view that I share. It just isn't a world-view that perfectly matches either side in our left-right or partisan political divides.
Who is your political/intellectual soul-mate?

6. I can't think of just one since I really do not follow pundits, authors, or comedians. |
|
I agree with some politicians, but disagree with others. There is not one that I would ever call my political/intellectual soul-mate. I voted for Obama and supported him, but I am not ga-ga about him. I don't watch the Sunday talk shows and neither do I listen to or watch the usual ones that DU gets orgasmic about how they are on fire.

13. I have several, hard to pare it down really. |
|
I really enjoy reading Ezra Klein and Steve Benen. Both provide the Gen X/Gen Y perspective on politics. As a Gen Xer, I appreciate that.
I like Krugman as well. Don't always agree on every single issue but I respect him a lot.
I adore Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert for the way they completely tear town the conservative perspective with their humor.
And I love love Rachel Maddow. Like Krugman, I don't always agree with her but is there anyone more prepared then her? Rethugs who go up against her are doomed! She is simply too intelligent for them.
