A simple test of the President's honesty and courage
Edited on Sat Mar-13-10 09:44 AM by Prism
If this so-called reform is an unalloyed good for the American people, if the President truly believes in it, if the President buys his own spin that this is the best path possible . . .

He should support a bill that will impose mandates before the 2012 election.

The President should face re-election when the working citizens are feeling the true effects of this reform, rather than ensuring his political fortunes will be entirely unaffected by what he and Congress are about to impose on the average citizen.

I cannot think of any good excuse to delay the costs and hardships about to be imposed until the President is politically safe and about to embark on a life of ease, speeches, and fortune.

If we must risk this reform, the President should risk something in return.

At the very, very least.

After all, Americans are clamoring for mandates without a public option, right? Well, let's see it then. Money, mouth, etc.

9. We all face individual and daily tests of courage and honesty? How do you measure up
Edited on Sat Mar-13-10 10:35 AM by stray cat
on a daily basis? I tend to agree but think everyone of us should be able to pass the same test of courage and honesty it is so easy to rate others on.

10. oh spare me
please. Even allowing that you're on a petty mission of equivocation and retroactive arse covering, thats a sad weak argument you've got there.

You call for honesty while your main mission is to cover for the lack of honesty in the health care -- oh pardon me-- health *insurance* negotiations.

14. Re-election is not a character test
The voters aren't all going to look at it exactly as you do.
