1. I haven't seen any posts on them at all yet. I went to the Cofffee Party web site to see if there
were any near me and there weren't. The closest was several hundred miles away. But then, I live in Ga. We had quite a group that used to meet every week with the Deaniacs so I think if we could generate some publicity we could get a group. I sined up for their emails so maybe something will turn up in the future.

FWIW, there web addy is www.coffeepartyusa.com

4. According to a story on NPR this AM,
there was at some coffeehouse in Decatur. I almost drove down from Duluth, but ended up spending the day cleaning the house instead.

10. Awe, damn. The only place I checked was the coffee party web site & they had one in Savanah & the
other one they showed as close was somewhere in NC. I'm not terribly close to Duluth, but at least that would be doable. I really hope this gets more publicity & we can make something out of it. We need something to generate some enthusuasm in the Dems around the country. I'm really afraid that the mid-terms are going to be a disaster!

keep control of them. You can not whip a mob into a frenzy and still direct them too well.
Poor old beep pocked GOPers: bussed the rubes in, got them all riled up, and now they are running wild.

7. I like their Mission Statement..
"MISSION: The Coffee Party Movement gives voice to Americans who want to see cooperation in government. We recognize that the federal government is not the enemy of the people, but the expression of our collective will, and that we must participate in the democratic process in order to address the challenges that we face as Americans. As voters and grassroots volunteers, we will support leaders who work toward positive solutions, and hold accountable those who obstruct them."

My husband is interested in joining.
He asked me about this group, but I didn't know
enough about it one way or the other.....
but after the Tea partier, one must be careful, that I know.

15. Their website looks sane
enough. I find it interesting that there are some peeps out there who actually want to counter the gop meme that the Gov is the enemy.

It was in bush-cheney time when the teabags were in a coma.

well then, Thank goodness for them!

Maybe I'll join, if they appear to be supporting a message,
like I do, that enough fighting......we need to get to working!

22. I like their ingenuity already..
takes my mind away from the depressing ignorance of teabaggers and reminds me that there are Americans out there who are capable of critical thinking and are as disgusted by the fauxbeck as we are.

"Justice's Wife(Thomas) Launches 'Tea Party' Group"
Source: LA TIMES

As Virginia Thomas tells it in her soft-spoken, Midwestern cadence, the story of her involvement in the "tea party" movement is the tale of an average citizen in action.

"I am an ordinary citizen from Omaha, Neb., who just may have the chance to preserve liberty along with you and other people like you," she said at a recent panel discussion with tea party leaders in Washington. Thomas went on to count herself among those energized into action by President Obama's "hard-left agenda."

--CLIP
She is the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and she has launched a tea-party-linked group that could test the traditional notions of political impartiality for the court.

In January, Virginia Thomas created Liberty Central Inc., a nonprofit lobbying group whose website will organize activism around a set of conservative "core principles," she said.

The group plans to issue score cards for Congress members and be involved in the November election, although Thomas would not specify how. She said it would accept donations from various sources -- including corporations -- as allowed under campaign finance rules recently loosened by the Supreme Court.

"I adore all the new citizen patriots who are rising up across this country," Thomas, who goes by Ginni, said on the panel at the Conservative Political Action Conference. "I have felt called to the front lines with you, with my fellow citizens, to preserve what made America great."

Very disappointed in their line. Someone should have the balls to defend government and government service.

25. I am unsure of what they really represent. Are they just an opposite of the tea party? A centrist
party? A more progressive one, or simply all inclusive against RW craziness? I am intrigued but not trusting yet.
