John Q on USA TV (HCR related) |
A down-on-his luck father, whose insurance won't cover his son's heart transplant, takes the hospital's emergency room hostage until the doctors agree to perform the operation.
Good movie that is pertinent to what is happening today and why we need HCR now!

1. pitch perfect except for the ending |
in real life the Saudi prince would get the kidney and when the kid died, he'd get all his organs too.

4. He wasn't "down on his luck." He was employed with health |
insurance benefits that didn't "cover" a transplant.

5. Yeah, someone should tell IMDb to fix the plot summary |
...though he was down on his luck in other aspects of his life.

7. no but having a dying kid would be considered down on one's luck |
most would say that not having a job would be less bad than having a dying kid.

9. That's what you call "down on your luck?" I don't think so. |

A misfortune, maybe, but one hardly considers illness to be "down on your luck." This is a euphemisim usually referring to unemployment, homelessness, and other forms of poverty.
