Good Job, Lawrence, just keep it up with that negativity!
Edited on Mon Mar-15-10 06:25 PM by jenmito
Re: the health care bill and people's opinions that it will pass, this morning on Morning Joe Lawrence O'Donnell said: "Where we are right now legislatively is, there are runners on first and second, and you (the people saying the bill will pass) are absolutely confidently predicting on the next pitch they will get a triple play."

And later he added, "Now, we've all seen Doug Flutie with one second left on the clock throw the 90 yard pass, it's an unbelievable long-shot."

He claimed they "all" know this, too, including Axelrod, Gibbs, etc.

He said at the end, "The odds will be against its passage until you see it get more than half-way through the Senate in reconciliation," and he knows all this because it failed under Clinton when HE was right there watching it all.

He REALLY has to stop living in the past thinking we're at the same stage now as they were back then when it died. :eyes:

6. He was telling the others how wrong they are to be so sure the bill will pass...
that it will be the equivalent of extraordinary plays (with his examples in baseball and football).

4. Yep, I LOVE O'Donnell but he IS living in the past. Every Congress brings in fresh blood, so
he cannot expect things to be static from 1989 or whenever he was in Congress...

I get that he has contacts within Congress who are giving him inside stuff. I just wonder how much it's about Lawrence and how much it's about health care reform...he seems so BENT on being able to tell people how much he knows about Congress...I like Lawrence but I am not so deeply impressed..."

or ever. What a Debbie Downer.

5. I listened to the whole dialogue. He sounded pissed that anybody would dare to
disagree with him. He is, after all, smarter than anybody in the world. I can't wait to hear what he has to say when both bills pass.

7. He talks different on Countdown
If he wants to keep getting invited back to that godawful morning show, he has to sound negative about any Democratic proposal or policy.

When he goes on Countdown he has to appeal to a more intelligent audience, so he take a somewhat different tone.

I have no idea WTF this dipshit really believes.

and that now, we may experience a victory that we missed back then.
Sorry to disappoint you O'Donnell.

18. And it didn't even make it out of a single committee so it was worth absolutely nothing.
I'm sure Obama could have written his own absolutely awesome Bill but, of course, it would have died long ago.

23. Actually, if not for that bill, and the efforts of Hillary back then, we wouldn't even be talking
about this today and Obama has never written a health care bill . He didn't even write the one in his campaign but whatever.

needing health care now.

Yeah, right.

30. Its true. Hillarycare brought healthcare into the modern spotlight.
Others talked anout it, like Nixon but it never got as much attention as Hillerycare. That is the reson folks still reference back to it.

31. So Obama wouldn't have cared about Healthcare except for Hillary. Even his Mom's
plight wouldn't have made it seem like an important area. Come on... Nobody believes that except you. I can't believe the mental gymnastic you are doing to give credit to Hillary and none to Obama but then again, knowing how much you hate Obama, I guess it isn't surprising.

I give Hillary a lot of credit for what she wanted and tried to do but, frankly, unless you can get it passed, it doesn't actually help people.

35. Well, we may soon find out.Having read the Bill, unless there
is a PO, there is no reason to think this will help a great many folks at all.It is indeed sad that we didn't do the maximum we could instead of the least we could. But believe as you wish. We all have opinions. I just do not agree with you on this and my opinion is just as valid.

36. And I agree with Micheal Moore
"If I were a member of congress, I think what I do is I would say 'I might vote for it if, President Obama, you'll stand in front of the cameras and tell the American people that this doesn't really cover preexisting conditions for the next four years. And the insurance companies are still going to get to make outrageous profits and they are going to be able to deny people care once they have insurance. Tell the people the truth of these things ...' "

"Thank you. One out of 435 is standing up for the 300 million. How truly sad is that?" -- Michael Moore on Countdown With Keith Olbermann, Monday, March 15th, 2010

If he is going to use a sports metaphore at least get it right. He is adding almost 30 yards to the heave.
