CNN hires RW blogger
THIS IS CNN?....

If I didn't get independent confirmation of this, I honestly would have assumed the announcement was some elaborate practical joke. Alas, it's true.

<...>

"Erick's a perfect fit for John King, USA, because not only is he an agenda-setter whose words are closely watched in Washington, but as a person who still lives in small-town America, Erick is in touch with the very people John hopes to reach," said Sam Feist, CNN political director and vice president of Washington-based programming. "With Erick's exceptional knowledge of politics, as well as his role as a conservative opinion leader, he will add an important voice to CNN's ideologically diverse group of political contributors."

This is easily the worst decision CNN has ever made. That the network probably reviewed Erickson's work before hiring him, and offered him a job anyway, suggests CNN's professional standards for what constitutes "an important voice" have all but disappeared.

The point here isn't that it's disappointing to see CNN hire yet another conservative voice, adding to its already-large stable of conservative voices. To be sure, it's frustrating, but it's nothing new.

The problem here is with Erickson himself.

For example, it wasn't long ago when Erickson explained his belief on why the left has a stronger online presence than the right. He attributed it to an asymmetry in free time, since conservatives "have families because we don't abort our kids, and we have jobs because we believe in capitalism."

This is the same Erickson who recently called retiring Supreme Court Justice David Souter a "goat f--king child molester," referred to two sitting U.S. senators as "healthcare suicide bombers," praised protesters for "tell Nancy Pelosi and the Congress to send Obama to a death panel" (he later backpedaled on that one), and described President Obama's Nobel Prize as "an affirmative action quota."

2. Of course, there won't be any outrage here at DU, nor any action taken,
because so many here care only in Defeating Democrats,
while the media fuck us over and over again by controlling the dialogue,
and spewing nothing more than Republican talking points on a daily basis.

If even 500 people wrote being outraged that CNN is so fucking blatant
in its rightwing tilt, they would, if nothing else, think twice.

But of course, we can't have that. Can't "do" anything effective
that might actually make a difference with our facist media. :(

3. Your defeatist post doesn't help.
Preemptively castigating DU'ers seems somewhat counter productive, IMO.

6. I don't watch the shills either... any of them.
What passes as "newscasts" these days is abysmal, and only serves to piss me off royally. My news is gleaned through the myriad of venues available on the net.

5. Re-posted this on the front page of my site
Only I took the dashes out of goat fucking to make the point letter by letter. CNN has clearly started dragging the gutters to get ratings to compete with FOX and Springer.

7. Considering Fox News has High Ratings with RW Hosts -- Its No Surprise at all. Ratings are King!
I am expecting CNN and MSNBC to start including more RW people because one thing is for certain...in TV and Movie land they all copy....if it works you can expect a dozen clones. Fox News gets impressive ratings for its prime time line up...the more RW a host is the higher the ratings...so i would expect things like "This Week" or even this CNN thing to have hosts that will be more RW leaning. The same goes with NBC's David Gregory. Ratings are up for Fox News only because there is a Dem in the WH.

11. I haven't watched it for 8 years but
I can be happy that I quit when I did out of pure self preservation.

I only started in 2000 and had no idea what a corporatewhore was..I thought it would just be the news. Was I in for a rude awakening.

Or any of the others, for that matter.

They are dinosaurs headed to extinction, they just haven't stopped wiggling yet.

16. they did have Beck on their team a while back...
so I'm not surprised at all another asshole extraordinaire would be added to the best farcical political team on television.

I think some emails are in order to be sent to CNN with some of Erick's little droppings of quotes that are in the OP. How utterly disgusting, what a fucking pig.
